The Elf and the Wrenn joined the Knight once again,
on the eve of their desperate quest,
to save the day, for the Queen of the Fey
and her rescue at the Ladys behest.
But the three good friends whom on each they depend,
for this quest they werent going alone,
for as a matter of course, came a small fighting force
to lay siege to the castle of stone.
The three rode before this small group for war,
the sorceress, the Elf and the Knight,
with a elvish war band upon their left hand,
and the Leprechaun Guard on their right.
The host rode forward with horns sounding onward
on the path where they followed the Knight,
who led the way beneath the flag of the Fey,
a green banner with a star shining bright.
The Archers eyes, were bright as the skies
as she watched as the Knight rode to war,
the Champion blade on his lap he had laid
and had a look she had not seen before.
She rode up close, a question to pose
to her close and confidante friend,
Its silent you stay, but your eyes do betray
your thoughts are ever just round the bend.
For when fighting is done, and the battle is won,
its the next fight youre planning to face,
its always been so, tell me, why must you go
to meet battle at such a swift pace?
The Knight looked instead, as he turned his head
down the road to the enemys haunt,
his shoulders were square, but the look in his stare
was the look of a soul that was gaunt.
You know this is true, that before I met you,
I fought few battles to mind,
but together we fight, by day or by night,
your heart and mine of a kind.
The Elf said to him with a slight pretty grin,
Tell me something Ive not heard you say,
for even I, a Queens Ranger, haven't seen this much danger,
why always put yourself in harms way?
I must know the truth, and must give the world proof,
he replied after a moment more,
that with all of my heart, as I stand apart,
am I truly worthy of war?
Now, glory, youve been told, is for the young and the bold,
but age doesnt quench the hearts fire,
and 'tis a mortal blow, for renown to go
beyond reach, or recall
or desire.
