Asked about Mrs. Clinton's complaint last week that in the four years since Sept. 11 the Bush adminsitration still hadn't been able to find "the tallest man in Afghanistan," Rice noted that the United States had succeeded in hobbling the terrorist kingpin - in marked contrast to what happened during the Clinton years.

"He's not the figure who sat for the entire period of the 1990s in Afghanistan, with training camps there, able to carry out operations, able to use the territory of Afghanistan as a base for his operations, able to launch effective attacks against the United States, against our embassies, against 'The Cole' and ultimately against us in Sept. 11th, 2001," Rice said.

YES!!!! And you KNOW what ahm talkin' bout'!!!

Good!

It's hilarious listening to Hillary complain we can't capture a tall Arab hiding in the mountains. She and her husband were offered bin Laden on a silver platter at least twice, and turned down the offer.

We wouldn't have even HAD a 9/11 if Clinton had acted like a president instead of a rock star.

Hillary wouldn't be the problem for Secretary Rice...it's the fringe right that would be the most vicious in attacking her.

You can post the whole thing. :- )

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice fired back at Sen. Hillary Clinton on Sunday, accusing the Clinton administration of not doing enough to stop Osama bin Laden during the 1990s as his al-Qaida network attacked U.S. interests with impunity.

The top diplomat didn't mention Mr. Clinton's decision to refuse a 1996 offer by the Sudanese to round up bin Laden and hand him over to the United States, but instead concentrated on Bush administration successes.

"We now have an ally in Afghanistan that is fighting against Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida," she noted. "We now have allies in Pakistan who are fighting against Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida. It's a very different situation than we faced in the '90s."

Actually if there is a God, I would like to see Ann Coulter run against the Beast666, if just for the debates. "Ms. Rodham, are you physically melting?" Oh maaaaaan, the absolute pure and horrific damage the Coulter could do to the demon!

Even though Hitlary is a senator now and should be fair game there is still a feeling that you can't fight back with her. Suppose this is a MSM invention but I noticed it with Lazio and ever since.

Yeah, but you know what HRC will say... "We prevented the 1995 NYT attacks, the Y2K attacks, and Project Bojinka, etc. etc. blah blah blah, and YOU DIDN'T prevent 9-11..."

and the MSM will blast her talking points ad nauseum...

Bin Laden, the world's No. 1 terrorist and the Pentagon's chief suspect in Tuesday's attacks, is known to use portable satellite telephones, advanced encryption cell phones and other encrypted telephony equipment, as well as secure computer networks -- all compliments of U.S. technology, Leitner says [Peter M. Leitner, a senior strategic trade adviser at the Defense Department].

"If people are worried about how these people were able to coordinate and communicate something like this -- which had to be pretty extensively coordinated -- without it being intercepted, it's because of the crap we've been selling these people," he said.

"How can you penetrate their networks when you can't even eavesdrop on their conversations?" he said.

"You can't stop them when they're coming right at your building," he said. "But, damn it, you should be able to stop them months in advance by breaking up their networks."

Leitner posits that the NSA wasn't able to detect the Islamic terrorists' plot because of the "high quality of the communications gear that they've been acquiring over the last couple of years, thanks to the Clinton administration's decontrols on advanced telecommunications equipment."
