CAIR-Ohio Response to Cartoons in Akron Beacon Journal
Cleveland, OH, 2/9/06)-Chip Boks February 5 cartoon of Prophet Muhammad in the Akron Beacon Journal is hurtful and irresponsible. It shows a degree of insensitivity beyond measure and a lack of cultural and religious understanding not befitting of a reputable paper such as the Beacon Journal.
The US is known as the worlds most democratic country where we value freedom, and where freedom of speech and freedom of the press are guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. However, when the press misuses its freedom to launch attacks against an entire people and their faith, we, as Americans, should stand against such calumny and bigotry. The demeaning cartoons proliferating around the world, and now in the Akron Beacon Journal, are similar to the hateful anti-Semitic images used in the past to dehumanize Jews. Boks cartoon is like painting a swastika or burning a cross and calling it free speech.
With freedom comes responsibility. These cartoons have hurt more than 1.2 billion Muslims and have offended many other people of faith. Boks cartoon is a provocation that will only feed anti-Americanism. His cartoon is antithetical to the values of our country which are built on respect for other people regardless of their color, religion or race. We support freedom of the press, but we object to any action that misrepresents American values or that encourages religious intolerance, racism or hate.

Last night on Fox 8 News they covered this story and the CAIR of Ohio organization meeting for protests. The other 'sponsor' indicated in last night report for the protests was the Islamic Center of Cleveland. The ICC has already had its Imam deported in Jan. of '06 and 13 of the other mosque leaders are under investigation charged with creating false documentation for immigration purposes, money laundering, falsifying payroll records, filing false tax returns, mail and wire fraud and more.
I am hunting for Chip Bok's cartoon that was shown on the news last night. He had drawn it as commentary on the current events. It showed CNN on a Tv set with a reporter trying to describe the incendiary cartoons. The picture had the prophets face digitized out. A couple was on a coach watching the news.

There should be a strong response and a challenge to CAIR's hypocricy. CAIR's intolerence and silence when other religions are attacked, as well as their funding by Saudi Arabia feeds anti-muslim fervor more than any cartoon would. Their mouthing of platitudes when their co-religionists go on rampages and wars and still think they have any moral stand is outrageous.

ARGH! They're upset over a cartoon of a cartoon of Mohammed?! Well, I'm gonna publish a cartoon of this cartoon of a cartoon; then they'll be REALLY angry!

The MSM are in a quandary (dare we say, a quagmire?).
On the one hand they defend the defacing of anything and everything held dear to Christians, up to and including defending a self-labeled artist placing a crucifix in a jar of urine.
Now, they are in a tizzy, doing all manner of mental gymnastics as to why they should NOT run a series of cartoons which Muslim papers have earlier themselves published.
Liberals live pathetic lives.

Well, IMHO, reading the CAIR statement that it is as offensive of swastikas etc. really made my jar drop. Shall we send them a few of the cartoons from the ME that we find offensive...
Their rhetoric falls very flat.

Are there court cases regarding Freedom of Press/Speech/Expression? If so, what are they?
Can a rally be organized to demonstrate Freedom of Speech in the United States through the years?

I found this website and I think the guy has it right.
Freedom of Speech/Press etc. is not there to protect nonoffensive speech, it wouldn't be needed if people were not offended. He made a lot of sense and Americans need to be reminded of the purpose to our 1st. Amendment.

If this is photoshopped then it is very well done, and hilarious. If not, then it is definitely an oxyMORON, and still hilarious. Stupid people make me laugh.
