Imams barred from integration plans [Denmark]
Copenhagen Post ^ | February 8, 2006

Political criticism of local imams in recent days has led the integration minister to exclude the muslim clerics from discussions of the integration of Muslims into Danish society.

Some imams have reportedly offered statements to media in Muslim countries that harmed Danish interests in the on-going row over the Mohammed cartoons, the integration minister, Rikke Hvilshøj, said on Monday.

'I think we have a clear picture today that imams are not the ones we should look to if we want integration in Denmark to work,' Hvilshøj told daily newspaper Berlingske Tidende. 'I've become aware that there are other groups we should draw upon.'

One incident involved imam Abu Laban telling television station al-Jazeera that he was happy about the Muslim boycott. Later the same day, he said to Danish television station TV2 that he would urge Muslims to stop the boycott immediately.

Hvilshøj had otherwise made efforts to draw upon imams' significant influence in local Muslim communities. During a conference held with seven local imams last April, she called upon them to encourage young Muslims to complete an education.

PM Anders Fogh Rasmussen had also invited a group of imams for an anti-terror conference at his Marienborg residence in September. The conference sought to find ways of preventing Islam from being used in the name of terror attacks.

Such efforts to involve the Muslim clerics were now a thing of the past, said Hvilshøj.

'The imams have revealed that they aren't the ones who benefit integration in Denmark,' she said. 'Some of the quotes we have seen show that they aren't interested in integeration.'

Good!!

Send them back to the $hithole 3rd world countries where they came from so they can preach murder and bow to their moon god 5 times a day.

They have no business living in a civilized, democratic country. They don't deserve it.

Looks like Denmark is catching on...the Imams are liars...although one can hardly blame them, it's a tenant of their religion.

At last -- a shred of good news from Europe.

It would be nice if our president, our secretary of state, et al, had this kind of clarity about assimilation. Based on previous experience, I'm not holding my breath.

"Some in Europe are waking up and smelling the coffee. "

You'd think after the French were waking up burning tire smell for weeks on end...next time, it might be the smell of a blown up school.

Too true

From UK: Denmark are leading the way with a simple example of how a liberal democracy should conduct itself with integrity when involved with Isalm.

I hope Jack straw is taking notes.

kind regards

France has no leadership and no vision for the future. Until it does, the muslim hordes will continue to rape and pillage. Its going to take other countries to clean up their mess as usual.

The only glittering hope was a quote from a French Foreign Minister (I am guessing here and relying on memory), where he said that the actions of the Muzzie-Pigs justified the portrayal in the cartoons. Denmark looks like it is changing course; same for Holland. England & France, I dunno.

The door works both ways. Living in a foreign country is privilege, not a right. A country can send any non-citizen out of its borders at any time for any reason. While internal rules govern their actions, international rules allow it.

They have no problem with lying to get what they want. How could you include them in leadership knowing this is how they operate - whispering sweet nothings to Europeans while raging like savages to Muslim audiences.
