The state of Bill and Hillary Clinton's union is apparently strong - at least judging by the mongo diamond that Hillary was sporting on her ring finger yesterday. Sources say the former President quietly gave the iceberg-sized bling - thought to exceed 3 carats - to his wife months ago, in advance of their 30th wedding anniversary on Oct. 11 last year.
But the sparkling stunner is so big that the former First Lady has been nervous about wearing it and hasn't broken it out of her jewelry box on a regular basis until recently.
The big bauble was on full display yesterday, when the junior senator visited University Settlement, an outreach center on the lower East Side, to talk about cuts to early childhood education proposed by President Bush.
"It was a gift from her husband," was all Clinton spokeswoman Jennifer Hanley would say.

Ruh roh. Hope, for Bubba's sake, Hillie doesn't find out.
You are sooooooo bad..and so spot on!!!
And yet Hillie thinks that if she sports this tacky ring it'll make everyone think that she and Bubba have a real marriage and not a business arrangement? If I were a prospective voter, I'd be really insulted. Then again, if I had any brains I wouldn't be dumb enough to even consider voting for her.
Guess the best thing that can be said is at least they haven't endangered another dog.
Butt getting a rock that large is the only way Hillary could get a big hard one out of Bill since he left Arkansas after raping Juanita. ......
"Three carats is a large diamonds by many standards. But, it isn't that special. I did a quick search and found one for less than $26k. Cheapskate comes to mind, as usual! "
The price of a 3 carat diamond would depend on the quality...how white it is, how free of flaws, the cut, etc.
Could go from between 20K for a lower quality diamond (what some people are agreeable to...they just want BIG), to a top quality, almost flawless, almost white diamond. That would be closer to 50K. The shape, round, heart-shaped, square-cut, etc., also can depreciate or increase the cost.
I'm not sure why Mrs. Clinton is so concerned about security. She's always surrounded by a gazillion security people, and insuring one of these large diamonds costs about $1,000 a year. Maybe a little more in some states.
Having an office in Harlem, he got a very good deal from a "friend" in the hood.

It's one more completely contrived and totally feeble attempt to appear to be something that she is not. I highly doubt B.J. bought her a ring either.
Three carats makes a nice "show" ... but, you are correct ... it ain't no iceberg and, in today's world is not all that large. And, then there is the matter of quality ... and then there is the matter of where it realllllllly came from ... like that necklace [first noticed in 2000]. It's all for PR/show but not necessarily fake.
