As I noted, I initially believed you shared that goal. But I understand how important the opportunity to lead your partys effort to exploit this issue must seem to a freshman Senator, and I hold no hard feelings over your earlier disingenuousness. Again, I have been around long enough to appreciate that in politics the public interest isnt always a priority for every one of us. Good luck to you, Senator.
I am not a big McCain fan, but this is delicious. McCain has publicly slammed a freshman Senator who got too big for his britches, and Obama is now a laughing stock in the Senate cloak room.
Obama urinated away his credibility by trying to double cross a powerful and more well known Senator (McCain). Obama is now going to have a much, much more difficult time getting something accomplished. Moreover, it may take him a couple of years to get some credibility back, and that is a lifetime in politics.
Obama has the media on his side to prop him up and ignore this, so that will help. But inside the Senate, Obama is a dead man walking on any legislation for the foreseeable future.
A fine example of a "empty suit."
