Every week on the editorial page there is a Bush cartoon more offensive then anything published about the Prophet.

The only reason I can think of is that their real motivation is even more embarrassing: Fear. They are backing down, kowtowing to threats from Muslims, not out of respect, but out of cowardice. The Boston Globe doesn't have the courage to stand for free speech. I can think of another, equally plausible reason: The Boston Globe, property of the NY Times, is on the side of our enemies and is making the enemy's argument for him for that reason.

""Depicting Mohammed wearing a turban in the form of a bomb with a sputtering fuse is no less hurtful to most Muslims than Nazi caricatures of Jews or Ku Klux Klan caricatures of blacks" Wish I had quick access to the Boston Globe's caricatures relating to the Catholic Church. They are numerous and are absolutely insulting to Catholics; and that's why the Globe's readership is dwindling faster than Ted Kennedy's rum bottle. Boston Globe writers and cartoonists are the experts on insulting Catholics, and are the ultimate hypocrites.

I'll wager the Boston Globe editors are more worried about violent Muslim retaliation rather than lofty, hypocritical principles.
To: suspects
That's quite a leap of logic to get from:
"Depicting Mohammed wearing a turban in the form of a bomb with a sputtering fuse is no less hurtful to most Muslims than Nazi caricatures of Jews or Ku Klux Klan caricatures of blacks are to those victims of intolerance. to:
therefore cartoonists who offend Muslims are Nazis

I'll bet the Globe opposed the cuts subsidizing the "art" that included human waste, urine and Christian religious symbols.
To: suspects
That is why the Danish cartoons will not be reproduced on these pages." No, that's not the reason.
The real reason is the Globe won't pick fight with those who will find their homes and kill their families.

Why bother with all these analogies, which don't even approach the truth of this unique situation?
The truth is that avowed followers of Mohammed are slashing people's throats, filming, and displaying it, targeting innocents, and there are no mass protests by their fellow Moslems condemning it.
But when a cartoonist condemns what they are doing via a crudely sketched stick figure that he labels "Mohammed", suddenly the Moslems are up in arms over a "desecration".
That is what the Globe and other media should be decrying.

I'll bet the cowards in Boston.....not just in the Globe....will begin to buy Korans and carry them as protection.
For myself......an extra day at the range and double up on ammo.
When the stuff hits the fan...I'll be ready to respond in kind!
Muslims in Europe have already killed.....once they get the taste of blood, there's no stopping the rabid curs.
If Europe had retained it's Christian heritage, the ships would be loading Muzzies now for a one-way deportation to the homeland!

***The Boston Globe is run by New York Times' communists who are congenitally stupid, ignorant, brainwashed with stale communist partylines and cliches, and exercise daily the Marxist axiom of "lie and deny."
***If there are any "nazis" in the world, they are fantatical Muslim/Islamic stormtroopers and their Goebbel-esque Mullahs having tantrums and issuing death threats.
