Bolton is right. If those envoys had any respect for the work they're EXPECTED to do, they'd get their asses in there on time. What are the odds they'll tolerate getting their paychecks late?

Excellent point! My Dad always uses that analogy too.

Though, I don't think that too much is expected when you go to work for the UN. "Entitled" would probably be a better word to describe their mentality.

In many cultures, an exact time to report is merely a suggestion, an approximate time.

True. But these jokers have been in NY City long enough to know better.

France is actually better at keeping schedules than Spain or Italy, for instance. Especially Spain. Those guys might show up at work around 10 or so. If they didn't get distracted on their stroll.

With 35 hour work weeks, I hope that they're able to be on time for something! (Though I imagine that Spain has similar employment laws)

Gotta love Bolton.
He's like the DI and the rest of the worthless scumbags at the UN are the scruffy, sloppy recruits who just stepped off the bus with their thumbs up their behinds.

Maybe they all finally decided to pay their parking tickets?

What's the story now on this man's appointment to the UN. Wasn't he a recess appointment? Has he been officially confirmed? I remember all the hullabaloo about his recess appointment but have not heard diddly squat since then. What gives?

These are not cultures, but rather lack of culture.

So they started fifteen minutes late? I'm looking for the story here.

A lot of other cultures don't get so uptight about punctuality like we do.

A story would have been if they didn't show at all which is what the headline leads you to believe.

I agree with you that it was disrespectful. Sort of like wearing a t-shirt to the State of the Union Address by Sheehan AND the wife of the US Rep. Being late like that sends a message that they have little or no respect for Bolten or their position and duty.

"U.S. Man at the U.N. Presides over Empty Room"

Headline writers are just as leftist as the reporters.

Beware of their headlines because along with their pinko leanings, they try to be cute, and the results are headlines that are misleading or outright lies.

Pure logic would tell the headline writer that since no one was in the room, the meeting could not be called to order. Therefore, Bolton could not be "presiding" over an official meeting.

But when has the present MSM ever applied logic?

Just another jab at the U.S. and Bolton (and, of course, by extension - President Bush).

DISCIPLINE is exactly what separates conservatives from liberals....liberals have NO discipline....Clinton was NEVER on time......thought -thinks he's the only one that matters.

That's why we eat their lunch in terms of our economy.

He should have declared Iran in violation of Human rights, ordered the UN to war, and closed the meeting before anyone else arrived.

Quorum's are for sissys.

In many cultures, an exact time to report is merely a suggestion, an approximate time.""

After all these years of operation, one could reasonable expect that meetings at the UN could start at the assigned time.

This is another example of the disdain that group as a whole has for being productive.

Bolton took names and times. Goof for him.

I hope all this goes against the fools who are part of the UN, and I hope it becomes more of the foundation for getting the UN out of the USA.
