By spring, 30 Chicago intersections will have cameras to catch drivers who run red lights. More than 2,000 cameras around the city are linked to an emergency command center, paid for in part by federal homeland security funds.

Houston wants to follow in their steps:

(sarc/on) Mar 15, 2006 - Chicago - Today Mayor Daley authorized police to enter anyones home at any time of the day or night without a warrant based on the suspicion that the owner of the property might be breaking some major or minor law. Said the Mayor, "After all, if you're doing nothing wrong, why should you worry about it??" (sarc/off)..

Sadly, this would be in line with what in the corporate world is called "project creep"..if you're doing a, then b should be ok..and once you do b, then c should be ok..

Someone needs to put a stop to this nonsense..IMHO
