I may be the only conservative on Free Republic who believes Clarence Thomas is a great S.C. Justice and who also believes that Anita Hill was telling the truth.

Refresh my memory as to the exact accusations? The only two things I recall were that he made some reference to something looking like a pubic hair (an observation which may not have been typical to someone who didn't look much at such things, but given that pubic hair, facial hair, and top-of-head hair are all different, the observation may have been descriptive) and an overheard reference saying something about a movie "Long Dong Silver", though I don't remember to who he's supposed to have made the reference or what he actually supposedly said).

Depending upon circumstances, I would think such accusations could be technically true and yet at the same time be horribly misconstrued.

Even tho Anita told her tale of woe about being sexually harrassed to a friend, BEFORE she ever worked for Clarence Thomas?

Or are the fact irrelevant to you?

I'm surprised that this story is still believed. Short answer, both of them were telling half-truths. I can attest the Black community did not believe Anita Hill at the time, and any very small amount of investigation would show why (although the MSM would never do it and has never put the theory forward). Basically, look at Hill and Thomas' lives: Both came from humble beginnings, both conservative, both Republican. They then start to work together at the EEOC. Supposedly, they were the only two Black Republicans in the office at the time. She was in her late 20's, he was divorced and in his mid-30's. See where this is going? They very likely had an affair. But then at some point Thomas' mentor John Warner(R-VA), set him up with his neice(?), Virginia Lamp. Thomas, for whatever reasons, chose her to be his wife. Years later, as Thomas is about to be confirmed to the SCOTUS, Anita Hill sees him and probably thinks, "That should've been me next to him, instead of that ugly white bi***!" Thus the stage is set for drama. Most people I knew believed this is what happened, and to me it makes sense.

As George Will said at the time, "For Anita Hill to be telling the truth, about 40 other people have to be lying." Plus her lies about talking with Susan Horchner the judge are a matter of record--flat falsehoods. Horchner had moved to California before Hill's allegations even occurred, but she swore she told Horchner about them at lunch one day--an impossibility.

No, Anita Hill lied. Even Joe Biden, an expert on lying himself, believed Thomas over Hill.

Yeah, I think you are. A little research might help you out. (Hint: Arlen Specter exposed not only Hill, but that scumbag woman judge from California who was supposed to corroborate Hill's story, as brazen liars. The embarrassed silence that overtook the Senate chamber at that time was jaw-dropping - - it was a beautiful thing.

Also, you apparently disagree with Joe Biden, who said about Anita Hill, "I didn't believe her", following Thomas's confirmation.
