Just turned on C-Span and for 15 minutes the vote ...

Joke's on you. There is no vote. That's an unofficial tally of position.

The betting line is on the timing of the vote - before or after Saturday?

I''m getting soooo sick of this!

This hearing is not about Sandra Day O'Connor, or about Harriet Miers, or about Ruth Bader Ginsberg. It's about Alito and his fitness to serve.

Grrrrr! Why is Durbin up again?!

Why does he get to go again? And he's just going over the same territory.

Yeah, there's nothing to burn down, it's all blackened earth.

I don't think they will hold this over until the SOTU Address. Either way he is going to be in the audience, either in the gallery with Laura or in the front row with the other justices.

Now Durbin is saying that Ginsberg replacing White is not the same as Alito replacing O'Connor.

70% is a C. Good enough for you?

Not good enough for me.

If you'll settle, be my guest. I won't.

Does it occur to you that the NEA HATES the "No Child Left Behind" law? Do you know WHY? Because the schools have to be accountable to the feds or they don't get any money. This means that in order to keep their members employed the NEA has to tolerate programs which make their members WORK, and because of the academic standards, there is less money and time for political and social brainwashing in the public schools. In addition, a large number of blacks are ticked off that they didn't get vouchers this time, and are moving to the right because of it.

Social Security is a work in progress, and Congress has to address it, not just the President. He has done his part. Gripe at Congress and tell them to formulate some legislation.

I know it's a waste of time to refute your complaints. You are going to spout the same talking points no matter what. My rebuttal was for the sake of any naive lurkers.

I repeat: leave the party. Most of us don't want you, however "principled" you believe you are.

Now Durbin is saying that Ginsberg replacing White is not the same as Alito replacing O'Connor.

That's true. There's nobody further to the left of Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg.

This ill-informed nonsense is so irritating, isn't it?

I saw that foolish comment and wasted 10 minutes surfing around for a news story.

LOL! Afghanistan is lovely this time of year. She could tell them how she despises Santorum and Bush. LOL! Or better yet, to the Iraqi woman who said that those who didn't love President Bush can go to hell.

Well, I hope everyone will drop this discussion. It's okay to occasionally toss in a comment about some other topic, but this Alito confirmation battle should be one to unify us. And it should also be one where we can have some fun. We're gonna win this fight, and the Rats are in a panic, so let's just enjoy this impending victory!

He's right. Ginsberg was hard-left, White was a middle-conservative.

O'Conner is a soft conservative, alito is a mid-to-strong conservative. Not nearly as different.

I imagine Ginsberg rarely votes the way White would on non-unanimous decisions, while Alito will agree with what O'Conner would have done probably more than half the time.

Listening to the democrats, you'd think the O'Conner was a liberal. They ignore that half the time, she is on the conservative side while it's KENNEDY that gives the liberals the 5-4 decisions.

How long are you willing to patiently wait....while they piddle on your leg and tell you it's raining?

I'm calling their bluff. You can continue to play along, patiently waiting...and one day, you too will wake up to the realization that you've been played for a fool for years.
