You cited issues that clearly don't have a wide following beyond what Specter believes. Sure, Specter is his own man, looking out for his best interests, it's obvious to many here that Specter believes Alito should be on the Supreme Court.

Remember, Durbin was "pro-life" at one time also...so you put Casey in a room with the dem Senators for a while..and he will be singing the same "right to privacy" song after a while...

Didn't they say the same thing in '04 when Kerry lost? and they were all going to move to Canada? Trouble is: Canada didn't want them ~LOL~

Canada is seeing the light . . . Conservatives making in-roads there yesterday

HATCH: Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the nomination be confirmed, the motion to reconsider be laid upon the table, the President be immediately notified of the Senate's action, and the Senate then return to legislative session.

The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.

The nomination considered and confirmed is as follows:

THE JUDICIARY

John G. Roberts, Jr., of Maryland, to be United States Circuit Judge for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Mr. HATCH. I move to reconsider the vote.

Mr. REID. I move to lay that motion on the table.

The motion to lay on the table was agreed to. Mr. REID. It is my understanding that this judge has waited about 10 years. He has been nominated several times.

Mr. HATCH. He has waited 12 years, through three nominations, by two different Presidents.

Mr. REID. He is the 124th judge we have approved for the Bush administration. The record is 124 to 2.

Mr. HATCH. Keep in mind, as of tomorrow, those two will be waiting for 2 solid years. We need to get them done, too. I call on my colleagues on the other side to get rid of their wicked and evil ways and allow these people to have votes up and down.

Mrs. BOXER. I object. [LOL!]

Mr. HATCH. I heard an objection from the other side.
I yield the floor.

18 . EXECUTIVE SESSION -- (Senate - May 08, 2003)

Liddy made some excellent points today on why she really can't just jump in and run for President: Not wealthy so has no money to start with -- aka Hillary with a huge war chest, also no track record so not a lot of potential deep pocket donors as well and a current job that requires her to make what may be unpopular decisions and she needs some political seasoning to let people know what she stands for... there was more, but I can't remember it all, but it was common sense stuff, not anti-Condi stuff.

Wow, this is good.
Now King Kohn can talk to the "foreign leaders", and Rocky can tell our plans to Iran in secret.

I'm so bored I'm actually longing for another pronouncement from the Iranian nutcase.

Or the Venezuelan fruitcake. At least he played the Kennedy clan for fools, which provided me with ample entertainment.

Can anyone here tell me why C-Span has Reed, Voinovich, Akaka, Rockefeller, Bayh, Chambliss, Cantwell, Ensign, Dayton and a good deal of others are still now listed!?

My hunch is that their list is based only on statements made on the floor of the Senate or slimilarly "official" venues.

Wasn't that great! Too bad they have a Parliment to deal with or they could really make changes... instead, they will have to walk a fine line to stay in power.
