Can't speak for anyone else, but you're exactly right. I'm not a conservative.
This is a ch__ch. What's missing?
It appears your right based on the thrashing I have taken, but it is how I feel.
Why not run for office?
Uh...ok. Of all your rants, which ones were you not aware of when you voted in '04?
I must admit, I had to Google it, though it looked familiar.
It really burns when he's right, doesn't it.
Would Hillary want to get rid of Dewine and place a true conservitive in his place or back Kenneth Blackwell?
The gov't already has access to Yahoo!'s and Microsoft's databases. Does this SCARE you?
IB4TZ.
I see pragmatism, not party loyalty. Pragmatism is what allows politics to proceed. Although I'm certain that my political views are 100% correct, I'm just as certain that I can't find more than 5% of the population that will agree with me on every point. Thus I must be pragmatic and form alliances. I must also prioritize and think long term.
Let's try an analogy. I'm hungry for steak. The Republicans are offering Big Macs, the Dems are offering grub worms. I can work with the Republicans, eat my Big Mac, and try to get steak on the menu in the future, OR I can attack the Republicans and refuse to help them until I get my steak. The latter, however, will likely result in not only no steak, but no Big Mac. I hope you like grub worm.
Hillary, is that you?
>>>Very appalling also is the attempt of this government to access Googles database. >>>
I must admit, my libertarian side is coming out on this issue. Wasn't the big gripe about the Patriot act was that the government would start a 'slippery slope' and not only use the Patriot Act for terrorist activity but other activity not having anything to do with terrorism. Conservatives balked and said "Nooooo, they wouldn't do that. They haven't yet. Name ONE thing they have 'abused' the Patriot Act on that has nothing to do with Terrorism". Now those conservatives are silent on this Google stuff. I'm against Child Porn as much as the next person. I have three daughters!! But I am also for civil rights and I believe they are sliding down this slippery slope and I'm losing faith in the man I helped get elected.
Excellent post, even though usually I hate the 'open letter' type posts.
Yes on some, no on others.
I too have thrown in the towel on the liberal-like, RAT-like GOP.
However, you have some false reasoning/associations. Bush has little to do with, nothing to do with, or it is not his responsibility for, or he SHOULD have the power for:
1] the economy --he has little to do with it
2] the Patriot Act --he should have all necessary powers to protect us.
3] Katrina? C'mon! Not his job. Bush was very stupid for "accepting blame".
4] Right to Life? Not the job of the president!
You are correct on other points. The most vital is "Limited Government". Many of us have given up on the GOP with just this one single point.
You could have shortened your comments by simply stating "LIMITED GOVERNMENT" and ended it right there.
The GOP will go down in flames in 06 and will lose the White House in 08 because they have made a mockery of "Limited Government", so much so that we can not even afford to fund military R&D and major weapon systems anymore.
It comes with a donation to the RNC.
Went right over my head.
By now, after reading their caring responses to you,you should know exactly how much they really care about how you think and feel.
There are lots of people who vote Republican but believe strongly in a limited government that the Republicans aren't offering and won't deliver.
The fact is, you've got three choices. Republican, Democrat or stay home.
Bush has largely delivered on his promises. You weren't sold a bill of goods. He gave us what he said he'd give us.
