what about ole willie? What has he ever done in the private sector? Tell me if I he did something constructive. his hillereee too.
They think they could have filibustered Alito? On what grounds? Ted Kennedy not liking him? Man, they are really out of it.
WE WIN! THEY LOSE!
Something about that phrase just seems so... unclean. Shot your wad, indeed. Just remember the wetnaps.

The statement I would have liked to have heard Alito make:
Senator, if you don't vote for me, I owe you nothing.
But going on the offense in the comity club is not allowed.
I don't think you're missing anything. The point seems to be that there would be at least 60 votes to stop a filibuster so it's pointless to try.
some of the Dems voting for Alito on the floor, might stick with their party on the cloture vote (Ben Nelson aside). 60 for cloture is not guaranteed.
I believe the vote is expected Tuesday so we'll find out soon!
that's just the comittee vote, that's coming down 10-8 - no mystery there. I think it goes to the floor on 1/31.
Gotcha. My error. When I heard newscasters talk about the vote, I thought we were moving along more briskly.
The point I was making is that folks like Alito, who have never had anything other than a government job, can rightly be criticized for that. Billzo never had anything other than a government job and he can be criticized for that. The Hiladabeast, on the other hand, was part of a private sector lawfirm.
I've thought it quite interesting that many of those who are so quick to criticize welfare mothers were among the first to embrace Alito.
No no arguing with you. Just jumped on the "jobs" ole willie hasn't had. As for her...well never mind. :)
Hey, she's even a pretty accomplished private sector thief to boot!
She is someone I would NEVER want to live near, see in person, and NEVER have any contact whatsoever in my life. My life is too precious to soil with the likes of her.
