Re: the Barrett Report What can we do? I have already written to my congresspeople to publish the Barrett Report in full, but I am sure to no avail.

Why? Because I live in NY!

Senators: Schumer, Clinton

Representative: Nita Lowey ( the lady who "stepped aside" so that Hitlery could run for senator in NY).

What frightens me is that only ONE republican (Grassley) has stepped forward on this issue.

The Barrett Report will be a prime time target of the new media. Keeping it locked up will be an aim of the old media. Let's see who wins. My money is on us.

Good morning, 'smoothie' ; )

Digger. I think I can take a good stab at the reason.

When troubles arise, the vast majority of folks I've met in my life-

smart/dumb, rich/poor, white/black, male/female
assume

1) 'it' can't be really be that bad
2) if 'it' is, someone else will take care of 'it'

"A whistle-blower in the IRS, John Filan, delivered up an 18-page blueprint sketching out the illegal activities and perhaps identifying the victims."

Where is this mysterious whistle-blower.....and why can't he whistle again? This would be one way to get the facts out without a lot of screwing around.

(.....but perhaps he's afraid of becoming another invitee to a dirt-nap in Fort Marcy Park).

The Dems and the NYTimes have now raised to "whistle-blowing hero" status those traitors who reveal national security secrets. Mr. Filan should come out from wherever he is, hand out copies of the 18-page report to the media......and then receive his Medal of Honor from Harry Reid.

Author calling for investigative journalist to do story on report gutting, also says Frist and Hastert should look into it. Personally, I don't hold my breath for either to happen.

Barrett report ping.

thanks for the ping. I've got it bookmarked.

Grassley wants this out. Badly. I expect him to play hardball (with appropriations) to get what he wants.

Does Grassley serve in an official appropriations capacity? If so, what?

He holds the purse strings in the Senate.

It may take him awhile, because he prefers to work beneath the radar. But I have confidence he will eventually get the Barret Report out in the open.

"With Barrett's grand jury subpoena power he has, sources familiar with the report say, opened the internal workings of the IRS against private citizens for the first time"

Dems don't find that "deeply troubling"!

Is there some reason that the Freedom of Information Act can't be used to free the Barrett Report? Just wondering what the legalities are.

I'm no lawyer, but a FOIA request would seem legitimate to me.
