"Over the Fourth of July holiday, delegates worked out a compromise plan that sidetracked Franklin’s proposal.  On July 16, the convention adopted the Great Compromise by a heart-stopping margin of one vote.  As the 1987 celebrants duly noted, without that vote, there would likely have been no Constitution."

I hope you know I was being sarcastic. I approve of bicameral legislatures. I just want them to work. If I was in the Senate, I would have travelled back there and objected to the unanimous consent and had them call the role. Then, lo and behold, it would have been discovered that there was the absence of a quorum (as if just looking around the room wouldn't have sufficed).
