Why would anyone like to work in such danger?

Why do we drill oil wells where weather, rebels or accidents can kill us? Why do guys rush into burnings buildings or stop a car full of guys at midnight while alone? Why do we join the Army, Marines or Air Force or go down to the sea in ships with the Navy and Coast Guard. Why do we trap lobsters in the worst fishing conditions on Earth, or race cars. Why do we join the Secret Service, Blackwater, the CIA? Why climb mountains, sky dive, scuba dive, or box? Some of us just can't stand the thought of a life behind a laptop.

I have my tv right on the desk beside my computer desk. I need it there so I can fact-check what the media is telling me.

I work with PC's not with my back so I don't know how it would be to do that sort of job.

Well, that may be a lack you need to fill up. Most of us started out doing actual, physical work. Mow lawns, shovel snow, paper route, construction grunt, factory work.

A lot of us moved on from that. A lot of us found something in that we could do for our life's work.

Honest labor - it's all good.

I haven't had a full night's sleep for years now. My hubby works from home so it's the only chance I get to be ALONE! :)

At age 25, he was pulling in $70,000 a year in a very low-cost area.

Amazing! Reminds me of the wages that roughnecks get out in the oil fields. Back when men would go off to Alaska for six month stretches and come back and relax for the other six. Quite an amazing lifestyle to boot.

You are so right!! The most intelligent man I ever knew did not have an 8th grade education. He was constantly teaching himself or learning new things from others. When he was in his 70's and on his death bed he told me he still learned something new every day, even on subjects he had dealt with all his life. He told me the only stupid people in the world were those who at some point thought they knew it all because after that they could not learn more. He also firmly believed there were people who were only "book smart" and claimed he called them that because if you took their books away they were ignorant of everything else around them. I am proud to tell anyone he was the smartest person I ever knew and I am in contact with many with Phd's nearly every day.

My hubby works out of this room so there's no way I'll ever get a tv in here. I just run back and forth.......it's the only exercise I get!

I have no doubt. Some of the dimmest people I have ever spoken with are Ivy league educated network newscasters,Hollywood starlets and leading men- and millionaire trophy wives.

I would rather have a beer with a coal miner. :]
