Yes, he did and he deserved our respect and appreciation for that -- right up until he switched sides.

He hasn't changed. Still the same self-serving weasel he was when he filmed his so-called exploits and doctored action reports to get himself a few medals. That's what he was after, medals and the brave US soldier reputation. He came home after picking rice out of his behind, ran around looking for publicity and found it with Hanoi Jane, lied about throwing his medals over the fence, committed enough treasonous acts to fill a book, and ran for congress. Changed his address five times 'til he found a district without an incumbent. Not to mention chasing daughters of rich men and stalking rich
widows.

Yep, once he turned against the Americans when he came back from Nam - he was a traitor. If he would have shut his mouth and gotten a job like everyone else who came back from NAM, we would have been happy with his service to the country, but because of his politics would not have won the election, but he would not have called a traitor imo.
