Diamond brand dog food recalled after toxin detected in 23 states. Contaminated dog food which was sold in 23 states killed nearly two dozen dogs and sickened 18 more, the Food and Drug Administration said Friday.
The deaths and illnesses sparked an FDA investigation into the pet food made by the Diamond Pet Food Company at its Gaston, S.C., manufacturing plant. The FDA said so far 23 animal deaths have been linked to the pet food.
The company, based in Meta, Mo., issued a recall of 19 varieties of dog and cat food on Dec. 21 because some of the pet food made at the Gaston facility was discovered to contain aflatoxin.

My cat and dog eat stuff I would not touch with a 10 foot pole, and they are none the worse for it. This stuff must have been really bad.
In terms of the Left, that is grounds for WMD. . .Only cuz it hurt their dog. F! thousands of Humans.
"Women and children hardest hit..."
Some of us on the right care about our pets too, ya know.
This isn't a sided political issue.

Fortunately, my dog eats the Lamb and Rice Diamond Dog Food.
The toxin found in the dog food is similar to the one found in peanuts -- which is why it's not a good idea to feed a dog peanuts or natural peanut butter.
Mine prefers almonds to peanuts, anyway.
Actually, it is the same toxin. Seems they test more stringently for food destined for human consumption.
I have 5 dogs. All are on what is called the BARF diet. Bones and Raw Food. The youngest have never had any thing but this diet. They all do great on it. They do have an overabudance of energy. But I think that is supposed to be a good thing.
Both of mine are always totally full of energy.
Tons of fun.
They love the Purina mix
I feed my dogs dead kittens
Aflotoxin affects the liver and kidneys and doesn't kill all pets immediately. It is a painful death. If you feed kibble, at least buy a high quality kibble that does not contain corn.
Wahoo... another smart Freeper! Only way to feed out pets -- actually I think they changed it from Bones and Raw Food to Biologically Appropriate Raw Food (too many people got freaked out by the term BARF I guess)... anyway, my two youngest have been raised on raw food and my Cushings dog is doing great on her raw food diet.
That's still BARF...
I guess the feds need to test pet food too. Gosh, I hope the cry goes up loudly for more government protection. Can't have too much protection. . . or sarcasm.
