So I was wondering what I wanted for Christmas this year. Then my wife emails me that her company CBDFW.com is sponsoring 4 days to meet the troops returning at DFW Airport and would I like to do that for Christmas Eve. Wow what could one ask for better than US Army troops to return home for Christmas Day? So there we were today along with a few hundred fellow strangers and only 2 families that actually had members returning home. The anticipation grew, as we all talked about who we new, my Niece just shipped over in Thanksgiving. Finally the USO lady announced they are here line up; and off they came. We all cheered and clapped and cried. They shook each of our hands more than we were shaking theirs. They all stopped out of respect to the old couple in a wheel chair and shook both of their hands, what polite well trained and mannered people. These finest and brightest we have to offer. Most of them could not believe the homecoming, their faces of joy and surprise, who were these people and why were we there for them? Many seemed embarrassed, what was the big fuss? We all knew what the fuss was these were warriors home for Christmas from the war on terror. Thank You Santa; that was the Perfect gift!
Tissue Alert!!!
What a great moment, from both points of view! I don't get to the airport often, but whenever I see a soldier coming home, I choke up and try to manage a "Thank you for your sacrifice." I don't know what I'd do if I saw a whole bunch of 'em!"
I wonder why I can't see the screen so good right now......
OH YEAH!!!!
If you see a soldier in uniform, look him in the eye and say thanks. They all appreciate it, even if they blush!
This is so different than Vietnam when our troops were greeted home by angry protesters.
God bless.
I was a G.I. during the Viet Nam era -- I know how it feels. Only a vet can know the feeling.
Wonderful! Welcome Home to those serving our country!
More than that--I'm gonna make myself a walking "Iron lung" and give any Iraqi Veteran a rib-squeezing hug as a Christmas Thank-you.
tears here. Thank you for welcoming home our boys and girls!
I am so glad you did this. I used to fly a lot and do watch for soldiers. Is it my PC - I can only see one of the photos?
Mary
Oh wonderful news! Thank you SR!
Not just you...a little parade of red X's off to the left.
Right click on the square and select show picture
I tried that...I can't see any of the pictures. :(
....same here????
It's very possible the users bandwidth has been used up. Bummer...I'd have liked to see the pics.
Merry Christmas
Neither that nor 'refresh' helped...I'm guessing it's a bandwidth thingie...?
