American Profile, a popular weekly, four-color magazine that celebrates hometown American life, put Walter Cronkite on its cover in its November 20 edition, calling him "the most trusted man in America." That's what he was called back in 1973 when most people didn't know any better. There's no reason to call him that today.
The former CBS Evening News anchorman played a pivotal role in America's Vietnam defeat and the deaths of millions. Cronkite is also notable for becoming an ardent advocate of world government in his old age. In retirement, he has come out of the liberal closet in more ways than one, declaring his opposition to the invasion of Iraq and saying he has no problem with homosexual marriages.

Walter said recently, that "Americans aren't smart enough to vote properly". What a gas bag!
He's a senile old coot. Nobody cares what he thinks any more; he just hasn't gotten the memo.
He'll be dead soon. These rambling statements are just his death rattle.
I forget if it was Gene Kranz or Chris Kraft or someone else, but some major figure from the Apollo era said Cronkite is well remembered for his coverage of the early space missions while in reality Frank McGee of NBC was a much better reporter. McGee had a better grasp of the facts but Walter was just a bigger name. It was one the rare occasions anyone had the nerve to say old Walter was inferior in some way.
Of course, "properly" means like him.
Growing up Cronkite was right up there with JFK in our 'liberal' household. But his role had changed from the greatest booster of America's space program to our greatest detractor. His fraudulent role in misreporting the Tet offensive gave cover to the cut and run crowd and he went from the voice of the space program to the face of defeat. Only Ronald Reagan many years later could even begin to undo the damage Cronkite's media establishment had wrought upon America's Resolve. Merry Christmas President Reagan. And Wally you're on your own.
Archie Bunker had him pegged 30 years ago. Meanwhile, Meathead hasn't learned a thing.
I was in my teens and early twenties in the sixties. Politically naive, of course. But even then I could see that the media was not reporting the news honestly and fairly. That motives were ascribed to opponents of their preferred policies that just weren't so.
I'm fairly intelligent, but Einstein doesn't have to worry. There's lots of lots smarter people out there than me. If I could see the truth so clearly, why couldn't they?
It is, though, very nice to know that you were right all along. Vindication. Much better than revenge.
There was a time when the American people had little access to information other than propaganda, cover-ups, censorship, and news blackouts such as that, and they were dangerously misled.
Today, the American people have unprecedented access to truth. All across America, people hear the broadcasts of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Neil Boorts, et al., and the internet brings uncensored, chaotic information--in the kind of diversity that the Left talks about but abhors--to everybody.
The Left hates uncensored information. The reason why is obvious.
Crinkite has leap off the deep end with both feet. He's a Left Wing agitator who unfortunately has lost his mine and I can't answer which happened first.
In my younger days (1974)I went to see him speak at the LBJ library in Austin...luckily he was "streaked" right in the middle of his speech. It was hilarious.

For those not familiar with the Gay State,Martha's Vineyard has become *the* summer playground for the world's rich and elite and,as a result,real estate there is among the most expensive you'll find anywhere in the world. And a check of the state property records shows that he and his wife own at least one parcel there.
He was a moron in 73 and he just keeps getting dumber. Network news is as irrelevant as the talking heads who anchor it.
Even at that age, it was clear to me that he was a liberal propagandist. I distinctly recall wondering why they replaced Edwards who did seem to be neutral as well as a good newscaster.
Now that I think about it, the fact that Cronkite was a leftist was probably why they did replace Edwards with him.
