THE DRUDGE REPORT has uncovered a photograph of President Bush signing the Patriot Act in the East Room of the White House on October 26, 2001. And standing over the President’s shoulder with a smile on his face is Democratic Senate Minority Harry Reid (D-NV)! Reid is currently leading efforts in the Senate to block the renewal of the Patriot Act.
After Reid successfully prevented the Patriot Act’s renewal late last week the Senator attended a Democrat political rally and proudly declared, “We killed the Patriot Act.”
One Republican strategist familiar with the photo said, “Democrats think they can regain the majority? Not a chance if they continue to put politics above what’s best for the country. Harry Reid is making a colossal miscalculation, but it's not the first time and thankfully for us, probably not the last.”

That will look great in a campagin ad.

This bill was carefully drafted and considered. Led by the members of Congress on this stage, and those seated in the audience, it was crafted with skill and care, determination and a spirit of bipartisanship for which the entire nation is grateful. This bill met with an overwhelming -- overwhelming agreement in Congress, because it upholds and respects the civil liberties guaranteed by our Constitution.
This legislation is essential not only to pursuing and punishing terrorists, but also preventing more atrocities in the hands of the evil ones. This government will enforce this law with all the urgency of a nation at war. The elected branches of our government, and both political parties, are united in our resolve to fight and stop and punish those who would do harm to the American people.
It is now my honor to sign into law the USA Patriot Act of 2001. (Applause.)

And admittedly by many in Congress not read by a damn one of them. But they have the audacity to ask questions now about it and they're called unpatriotic.
Harry Reid also vote for S 1510 giving the POTUS the authority to order NSA wire-taps.

There are so many of these, it will be difficult to choose which ones to use.
That was back when the Dems pretended to be concerned about defense matters.

Who's fault is it that they or someone on their staff didn't read the bill?
The sound bite of Reid proclaiming "We just killed the Patriot Act" will be good as well.
Even old leaky himself, Pat Leahy, didn't seem to be frowning all that much.
Ahhhh... Another act of Hypocracy from the Democratic party. Let us see how they spin this one.
yeah if he is taking photos of this historic occassion my sense is he was not tossing and turning all night worrying about the patriot act.
So that should mean they automatically approve of it again? Example for you. I buy a car with no research, no discussions, etc. I realize two years later the car is a lemon. I should be forced to buy my next car in the same fashion because I was stupid enough to do it one time?
