It was translated from French to English by James Chadwick (1813-1882) and appeared in Crown of Jesus, 1862. The music, Gloria (Barnes), is a French carol melody; arranged by Edward Shippen. For more information, please click here. Warning: My popup blocker blocked something coming from this site. So? Be warned before you click. The point of doing *Christmas By Song* is to give you a variety of artists doing the same Christmas song. We do have a huge selection to choose from. Due to space and time restraint, we are only providing a mini musical mixture!

The first two verses were by an anonymous author as part of the Little Childrens Book for Schools and Families by J. C. File, and the third verse is by John Thomas McFarland (1851-1913). Credit belongs here. The first two verses of Away in a Manger were originally published in 1885 in a Lutheran schoolbook. James Murray published it in 1887 under the title of Luthers Cradle Hymn leaving some people to think that Luther had written it. No one is certain who wrote the music, but it, too, is believed to be American. Credit belongs here. One of the great things about doing *Christmas By Song* is choosing the selections to put on this thread. However, it surely does zap a person's energy sometimes especially when they find themselves crying over songs. This is one of those for some reason for MoJo.

It isn't hard work, just time consuming. *HUGS*
Besides, the majority of hardwork is done by you and the rest of the Canteen Deejays on the thread itself.
