Sad but true. Mail that to traitor McPain. The Commies did a good job brainwashing him it seems, I wonder how many more programs which have been planted in his mind have yet to be run?

A$$ H@!es is all I can say. I see my Rep Peter King voted NO. Too bad Ackerman and McCarthy also from LI voted Yes.

Mark Levin had the best speech on this matter yesterday. He said that every slip and fall lawyer is drooling over the prospect of suing interrogators. Can't these people, who represent us, realize the effect of this will be bigger than any Gorelick Wall? Have they asked Americans?

The interrogators are human. If they have to watch how far they can go and question their every move we are in trouble. OBL must be laughing his A$$ off.

Rome collapsed because the Romans ruled the world through fear and torment and the world wasn't putting up with it anymore. This, after all, was the world of darkness into which the light of Jesus needed to be born. Are we supposed to look at Roman power as a lost greatness to be regained?

Katherine Harris (R-FL) voted for this. It gives moral support to the enemy, helps with their propaganda, undermines our military. FL needs a new Republican candidate to run against leftist lunatic Bill Nelson for U.S. Senate next year.

Rome fell due to rot from within. Jesus' birth was not a contributing factor. Indeed, one can argue that the Roman Empire was prolonged by Christianity after it was co-opted by Emperor Constantine and the Council of Nicea in the year 323.

Are we supposed to look at Roman power as a lost greatness to be regained?

We can look to the root causes of the failure of great empires to check for weaknesses in America's status as a superpower today. The same corruption that destroyed Rome is growing within our three branches of government. Whether it can be fixed is the question. Another Clinton presidency, I fear, would be fatal.

Just another bill pushed by McCain to help his political ambitions. Just like campaign reform, I am sure this will be another very bad law.

Looky there, "true conservatives" ron paul and tom tancredo voted with the democrats, restraining our military.

They also voted with over 100 other Republicans. You're not a very good spinner.

And I would say that the willingness to accept the torture of our fellow human beings is symptomatic of a different kind of corruption, a corruption that can also destroy us from within. Ask yourself: is there any version of torture, of a human being subjected to unimaginable pain for the furtherance of another human being's ends, which you think Jesus would look down at and say "yes, this is what God has in mind for His children"?

You assume that I believe in Jesus as a god. I do not. I am a deist, not a Christian.

If a terrorist is captured who has knowledge of terrorist plans that would kill multiple people, I have no qualms whatsoever in torturing him as much as is required to elicit that information in order to save lives of those that would be taken in the attack.

I just don't get this. You're leaving the decision as to who is a terrorist who has information and who isn't to people who may or may not have the ability or wisdom or information to be able to make that decision. That means innocent people potentially being tortured. If we are a nation that does that, are we worth defending? Didn't the Founders consider the ideals expressed in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution to be universal? They were not nationalists, in that sense: they saw America as a city on a hill, but it was up there as a beacon, not as the seat of empire. If we're only fighting to defend a piece of land, and not an ideal, then we're no different from any other nation, and then there is certainly no justification for torture, and somebody has to figure out a way to get beacon burning again.

Same liberal argument made by those opposing the death penalty. By your logic, it is better that 1,000 terrorists be allowed to kill and maim than to torture 1 terrorist by mistake.

I'm not talking innocent people. I specifically said captured terrorists. If they have information about future attacks, then all necessary force should be used to obtain that information to prevent the attacks.

I refuse to buy into the moral relativism argument posited either. Totalitarian regimes and terrorists intentionally torture the innocent to further their objectives. Conversely, captured terrorists are not innocents. Even if they lack the information being sought, torturing them by mistake does not put the U.S. at the same level as those who torture the innocent on purpose.

I'm gonna blame the President for this passing both Houses.

Damn, the man refuses to use the bully-pulpit to steer legislators away from foolish enactments like this. LEAD-ER-SHIP.

Dubya knew this was going to be an issue for quite some time, so he SHOULD have been fighting its passage all along.

Instead, he's asleep at the wheel and sits on his hands while McCain takes the helm. AGAIN. Just like CFR.
