Jesus didn't drink alcoholic wine. The wine referred to in the Bible is what we would call grape juice.

The legend lives on. Conveniently ignored is that the 1st century had no refrigerators or flights to Chile for fresh grapes out of season.

Can you prove that? None of the translations I have make that distinction. To my knowledge the Bible speaks against drunkenness, not drinking alcohol. BTW, do you avoid Nyquil and real vanilla extract? Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

Then why do modern day churches celebrate communion with alcoholic wine?

Actually, there is no evidence for or against this. What we do not for sure is that he was against drunkenness.

In the Old Testament there are 3 Hebrew words that are all translated as “wine”.
YAYIN: Intoxicating, fermented wine (Genesis 9:21).
TIROSH: Fresh grape juice (Proverbs 3:10).
SHAKAR: Intoxicating, intensely alcoholic, strong drink (often referred to other intoxicants than wine) (Numbers 28:7).

The New Testament, translated from Greek, uses the word “wine” for both fermented and unfermented drink. There are 2 Greek words for wine the New Testament.
OINOS: Wine (generic) - Matthew 9:17 -- unfermented, Ephesians 5:18 -- fermented.
GLEUKOS: Sweet wine, fresh juice (Acts 2:13).
