Child Killer Was a Pothead
Accuracy in Media ^ | December 15, 2005 | Cliff Kincaid

Posted on 12/14/2005 9:27:54 PM PST by Mojave

The George Soros-funded campaign to legalize marijuana has run into a problem. Joseph Smith, convicted and sentenced to death for the abduction, rape and murder of 11-year-old Carlie Brucia, has been exposed as a pothead. In an unsuccessful ploy to spare his life, his attorneys argued that he was a drug addict, used drugs on the occasion of the Brucia murder, and began his involvement with drugs by smoking marijuana. It looks like marijuana didn't have many "medical benefits" in this case.

Have you ever smoked pot?

Even once?

He may have but he certainly didn't inhale. Otherwise, he'd be cognizant of the fact that the effects of marijuana do not induce some type of murderous tendencies. If anything, they invoke the opposite effect.

I always find it odd that somebody can take two totally unrelated facts and try to meld them into some cause-and-effect statement.

Oh I understand...it is no different than the rabid anti gunner..proclaiming that merely owning a firearm makes one a "potential murderer"....

While such an argument is a farce..

Such a belief is dangerous...it leads to a permissive attitude trowds an ever intrusive and oppressive government...

After all...the Government is only going after "those people".....

Mojave is making the same arguement as the anti gunner....taking blame away from the criminal individial...and placing it on some magic substance or item..

What a pointless article. A criminal raped and murdered a child, and was rightly sentenced to death. It's a shame that it will end up taking so long to execute him, but what does any of it have to do with marijuana? Should rape and murder be lesser crimes for sober perps?

Hemp was first heavily taxed out of existance as a commercial competitor to the wood and petro-chemical industries...

Well.....I'm glad you informed us. This changes everything!!!!

I'M a pot-head, but I despise George Soros...it's a total bunch of BS for anyone to even think that smoking marijuana would cause someone to commit murder. It seems to me that Smith's defense attorneys were simply trying to make excuses & win sympathy for their client...typical lawyer lingo.

legal smoke or not...hemp has many idustrial uses...the the kind of hemp grown for industry isnt the same kind grown for smoking...industrial hemp is mostly stalk ...it has a very high cellulous content and high wood hurd content...

It can be used to make particle board, plywood, paper, insulation...and thats just off the top of my head...

The chemical properties can be used to produce ANYTHING made from petro chemicals (oil) from cellophane to TNT to PLASTIC to fuel that can be burned in a modified diesel...
engine...

New bio mass technology could use the left overs to power steam generation plants to turn electric turbines...

Hersh paper and Dupont chemicals bought off John Ansligner and they slapped a penny a ton tax on industrial hemp (in the day ALOT of money)

An acre of Industrial hemp will produce 4 times the material that an acre of short growth trees will ,in the same amount of time.

I dont expect it to change your attitude of whether smoking pot is ok or not...

Industrial hemp wont be smoked....it's not grown for the flower...

I hope it might influence your attitude on whether there are legitimate industrial uses in a climate of heavy energy imports...

Marijuana isn't a "gateway drug." Many of my friends in college smoked pot, some of them enough for a reggae band, and the only thing they moved on to was Doritos. Most of them grew up to hold white-collar jobs. Marijuana is no more a gateway drug than caffeine -- classic post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.

I am saying that people who indulge in selfish desire are in fact, on the wrong track. Whether it is alchohol, drugs, sexual promiscuity, homosexuality (another form of sexual promiscuity), love of money, lust, hatred or any other number of things that places their selfish desire above their love for their fellow man or their submission to God, they are on the wrong track.

Oh yeah, and can we please not shift the grounds for illegalization from "it produces killers" to "you shouldn't be doing it anyway"? Wouldn't we all like to be first in line to write the thou-should-not laws ...

HELLLLLLL YEAH!

I just sent Cliff Kincaid (the guy who wrote this article) an e-mail & told him that violence is the last thing we are concerned about when we're stoned.

His linking marijuana use to murdering an innocent child is total Prohibitionist BS....& his making George Soros our political guru was a double insult!

but I never saw anyone who used marijuana who could pull himself out of a chair.

----Reminds me of that movie with Cheech and Chong in it. I remember back in college seemed like all marijuana does is make you lazy/lethargic, hungry(munchies) and giggly. Never knew or heard of someone murdering a child because of smoking pot.

That's exactly what I told the writer of this column. It's astounding that so-called "intelligent" people would believe such nonsense about those of us who enjoy smoking marijuana, 'cuz we're not like that.

Joseph Smith & George Soros don't represent us in any way, shape, or form.

Unbelieveable to you, maybe, but not to us. Not that it matters, 'cuz we are going to continue to toke regardless of what the law says.

Jesus didn't drink alcoholic wine. The wine referred to in the Bible is what we would call grape juice.

The legend lives on. Conveniently ignored is that the 1st century had no refrigerators or flights to Chile for fresh grapes out of season.
