You don't seem to understand what's going on in American politics living in India as you are so let me explain it to you. Bush is pushing for an unlimited guest worker program, there will be no caps, which means if there's a willing worker anywhere in the world that's wants to move to the US and take a minimum wage job he or she can do so.
Supposedly the poll was based on the ability to freely move to the US under this plan of Bush's and I'm convinced that millions not just from India but all over the world will do so. He thinks as a libertarian when it comes to immigration and does not care about issues such as national heritage, quality of life or carrying capacity.
So the bottom line is it doesn't matter to me whether YOU believe the poll or not, history has plenty of examples of wealthy nations getting overwhelmed by the less fortunate who are apparently incapable or unwilling of developing a thriving economy of their own so they move into one that already is. With Bush's plan we can expect no different.
"You are obviously out of touch arnt you? With India's economy growing at 9% growth rate (3 times faster than US) the flow has already reversed. According to recent reports a lot of Indians in the US are comming back. There are a lot more and better jobs here now."
I don't see that, i see them coming here and staying here. And I don't blame them -- why live in a place like India when you can live in the US?
(And no, Indian growth rate is more like 7%, not 9%).
35 million is 12%+ of the population. Is one in 8 or 9 of the people you know Indian?
