There are hidden contradictions in the minds of people who "love Nature" while deploring the "artificialities" with which "Man has spoiled 'Nature.' " The obvious contradiction lies in their choice of words, which imply that Man and his artifacts are not part of "Nature", but beavers and their dams are. But the contradictions go deeper than this prima-facie absurdity. In declaring his love for a beaver dam (erected by beavers for beavers' purposes) and his hatred for dams erected by men (for the purposes of men) the "Naturist" reveals his hatred for his own race, i.e. his own self-hatred. In the case,of "Naturists" such self-hatred is understandable; they are such a sorry lot. But hatred is too strong an emotion to feel toward them; pity and contempt are the most they rate. As for me, willy-nilly I am a man, not a beaver, and H. sapiens is the only race I have or can have. Fortunately for me, I like being part of a race made up of men and women, it strikes me as a fine arrangement and perfectly "natural."

OTHERS ARRESTED

Also arrested, according to information from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Oregon, in the investigation were: Stanislas G. Meyerhoff, 28, is accused of arsons at Superior Lumber Company in Glendale, Ore., on Jan. 2, 2001; and at Jefferson Poplar Farms in Clatskanie, Ore., on May 21, 2001. Estimated damage exceeded $1 million.

He is also accused of the destruction of the Bonneville Power Administration electrical transmission tower in Bend, Ore., on Dec. 30, 1999. No damage estimate was reported. He was arrested in Charlottesville, Va.

Daniel G. McGowan, 31, was also accused of the arsons at Superior Lumber Company and Jefferson Poplar Farms. He was arrested in New York City.

Chelsea D. Gerlach, 28, was also accused of the destruction of the Bonneville electrical transmission tower. She was arrested in Portland, Ore.

Kevin M. Tubbs, 36, was also accused of arson at the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services facility in Olympia, Wash. He was arrested in Springfield, Ore.

Female ecoterror suspect had two previous minor convictions

TUCSON, Ariz. We're learning more about Sarah Kendall Harvey, one of two Arizona residents charged with ecoterrorism attacks in the Northwest.In a job application, Harvey acknowledged having plead guilty in 1997 to three misdemeanors after being arrested "at a nonviolent anti-logging protest."

Harvey says an attorney had counseled her to enter the plea because it happened in a "very conservative area."

Her 1999 conviction was for trespassing on Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad company property.

Harvey was arrested Wednesday and charged in connection with a December 1998 fire at U-S Forest Industries in Medford, Oregon.

A second Arizonan, 40-year-old William C. Rodgers of Prescott was also arrested for an arson at an animal and plant inspection facility in Washington State.

Logic and common sense don't apply to fanatics. I doubt they ever thought these things through (a common characteristic of the Leftists.) They don't see the parallels between themselves and fanatics of an earlier era, whom they surely abhor. Let's say the early German fascists who vandalized stores owned by Jews, would be to these true believers acting on "bad" motives while they act out on "good" motives. I wonder how many even here would acknowledge that to those German fascists, in their time and in their historical circumstances their motives were just as noble as the motives of the econazis today are to themselves.

6 Arrested In Oregon, Washington Ecoterrorism Attacks

Attacks Claimed By E.L.F., A.L.F.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Six people have been arrested in connection with ecoterrorism attacks in Oregon and Washington claimed by the Earth Liberation Front and Animal Liberation Front, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Seattle announced Thursday.

The arrests were made Wednesday in New York, Virginia, Oregon and Arizona. Each defendant has been indicted in either Oregon or Washington.

Twenty-eight-year-old Stanislas Gregory Meyerhoff was arrested in Charlottesville, Va., and 31-year-old Daniel Gerard McGowan was arrested in New York City. They are accused in the 2001 fires at the Superior Lumber Company in Glendale and the Jefferson Poplar Farm in Clatskanie. If convicted, they could be sentenced to life in prison.

Thirty-six-year-old Kevin M. Tubbs (pictured, left) was arrested in Springfield, Ore., and 40-year-old William C. Rodgers was arrested in Prescott, Ariz. They were indicted for the 1998 fire at the Animal and Plant and Health Inspection facility at Olympia. They face up to 20 years in prison.
