Afraid I'm too late to be here when you are, no doubt readying for your service tomorrow...like you, I prefer the old-fashioned Christmas trees and decorations, and have ornaments from 1961 and since.

With the children so far away, and now don't have the ability to deal with putting one up and decorating - too much risk of falling - so we don't. I last year got a small lighted one we placed in the kitchen, and do put the manger scene in the living room - the only requisite for Christmas!
I have the lovely wreath on the front door, but will skip all the outside railings decorations and interior doorways framed with lights and garlands, screened porch lights, etc...

Christmas is the celebration of God's Gift to Mankind, and I worship and thank Him, not really needing props...

You know, Sistah, if it were not for Emma we probably would not be decorating much either. I'm already thinking, "which child gets the old ornaments?" I would like to pass them down while I'm yet alive, as I wish to do with most of the "things" that I have that are meaningful to the children.

You and I both know that Christmas is a matter of the heart and spirit, and you have enough of that to fill the universe. And, we have our dreams of Christmas past. Love you dear Sistah.
