The United States population of those who identify themselves as from Arab ancestry rose a huge 40% since 1980.
Median income for Arab-American households is $5,000 greater than the national average. Mean income is 8% higher than the national average.
More than 40% of US citizens of Arab descent have a bachelor's degree or higher versus 24% for the US national average.
The percent of those with a post-graduate degree is nearly 100% greater than the national average.
The median age of the Arab population was 33, and ranged from 27 for those who said their ancestry was "Arab" or "Arabic" to 39 for Syrian or Lebanese.
The % of married housholds of Arab descent in the US is 7% higher than the national average.
The religion affilitation is overwhelmingly Christian. Muslim makes up about 22%.
You nailed it, Jefe!
Right on! (Glad you ran out of bubblegum!)
Iranians are Persian, not Arab, but hey ...........who cares with a cuties like that, right?
Persian, Arab, Jewish, who cares a beautiful woman is a beautiful woman.
When present day Lebanon was first established as an independent nation in 1943 Lebanese Christian did not want to consider Lebanon as an Arab country but Lebanese Muslim wanted to so, therefore they came to an agreement in the middle where they called Lebanon a country with "Arabic Face" rather than an Arab country.
After the defeat of the Lebanese Christians at the end the civil war at the hand of the Syrian Baath terrorist regime and their Lebanese Muslim allies, the "Taaef agreement" which rewrote the Lebanese Constitution included the phrase that Lebanon is an Arab country. Despite this, still the vast majority of Lebanese Christians, including myself, do not consider themselves Arabs.
Thank you for that explanation. It makes sense. And it must make for continued tensions between Christians and Muslims.
I never considered Lebanese Christian friends to be Arabs either.
Yeah, Iranian women tend to be hot. So hot, it's scary.
Exactly. Beautiful women trump ethnicity.
I dated an Iranian doctor that was hotter than hot. She alone could put Pfizer out of the Viagra business if she wanted to, she was so beautiful. Or, buy a bottle of Viagra and instead of pills, you get a poster of her instead. She was just incredibly gorgeous.
There have been very beautiful women in Iran who have spent their whole life frying in the hot sun wearing the "chador". What a waste.
I'd say most Lebanese are Phoenicians....
To be specific--the problem is Islamic psychos, not Arabs.
The Canaanites.....the Greeks called them Phonecians; same thing....... were the original inhabitants but you are talking 5000 years ago.
In the last ten years, the Syrians have ethnically cleansed about 35% of the Lebanese out of Lebanon. There are Palestinians and Syrians running around carrying Lebanese passports and they are NOT Lebanese.
Most of the Middle East in that area is flat and dry. Lebanon has a coastline and is mostly mountains. The coastline allowed invaders to constantly use Lebanon as target practice for their empire building aspirations, so you have had various races and peoples throughout history mixing with the Lebanese, including
Romans
French (yes, the cowardly dishonorable French)
Persians
Crusaders
Ottomans
Egyptians
Babylonians
Israelis
Syrians
and that's not all.
The mountains allowed some Lebanese to survive the invasion while the lowlands were conquered. You thus, over the years, had a lot of mixing of cultures.
Today, 20-30% of the Lebanese are Arabs. English is often the language taught in the universities. They are quite European (even more so before the Syrian takeover 25 years ago).
At one time, Lebanon's beach scene was like the modern day Miami's South Beach, or at least a close equivelent for the era. Lebanese loved the Western culture, was mostly Christian, and it is a total shame on the world and on many American presidents of the past who let Lebanon slip away into the extremist hands.
It is incredible that we fight so hard for "Palestinians" when we had a REAL nation that was pro-Western and Christian in Lebanon but we just turned our backs and watched it get gobbled up by the radicals.
All that Jimmy Carter crap and Bill Clinton crap and even the GOP who make all these attempts to appease the Palestinians when they could have long ago fought just as hard to keep Lebanon a free nation.
Agreed.
Absolutly correct particularly
