Perhaps I should have said that most people who claim to be Christians believe in the virgin birth of Christ. I was trying to avoid one of those interminable arguments about who is "really" a Christian. :)
As you say, most Protestants don't believe Mary was ever-virgin.
One of the more unusual things I've learned recently is that the Koran is very explicit that Jesus was born of a virgin. Moslems just doesn't believe he is God or the son of God.

Well, I must be in the minority because as a Lutheran I was taught all my life that she was a virgin.

They also believe that Judas was crucified in His place, I believe.
You know, one kind of follows from the other, so muslims are really going out on a limb here. Given how extremely dubious the claim of a virgin birth is, I would think that if someone was willing to accept the former they could accept the latter. Few things astonish me as much as the contortions of reason and rationality that humans will put themselves through on a daily basis in order to maintain their castles in the sky.
Don't know where you got that info but you are dead wrong.
