I didn't see anywhere that he was giving the money to charity. Did I miss something?
I've often wanted to send him the job I did on his photo, but there's no email address and I hesitate to put my link on his blog.

You didn't miss anything. I was thinking it's logical in terms of the expenses involved in maintaining the blog as well as paying for photography supplies.
How about using the snail mail address on his blog...?
