Attorney Lynne Stewart, age 66, faces 30 years in prison.

This results from the Bush Administration's use of the war on terrorism to curtail rights and criminalize advocacy -- actions that threaten the very basis of our legal system.

From her trial's transcript from November 8th 2004
Q. And my question, though, is in your statement -- in your testimony you indicated that violence need be directed at institutions, is that right?
Stewart: Yes
Q. What type of institutions are you talking about?
Stewart: Well, I don't believe in civilian deaths. I don't believe in wanton massacres, such as Luxor. And for that reason it seems to me that at some ultimate point the institutions which perpetuate capitalism -- and by that I mean the institutions of government which protect it and make sure that it functions -- do have to be attacked. Perhaps could be banking institutions, if they were the -- a possible thought, but I'm sure those decisions -- we're not in those times yet, Mr. Dember. And I'm sure when time and circumstances occur, as I have had a lifelong belief they must occur, that the people will make the right decisions about which institutions to attack. New York City Board of Education could be such an institution.

Why must we wait until January 2006 to see that this woman can no longer walk the streets of this country? What the hell is going on?

They should throw the book at this woman. She has no compassion for her fellow man. It's all about the cause which is to ruin anything free.

Not long enough, but I guess we'll have to settle for it.

If there is any compassion, it should be for those of us that have to live with the fallout left from the evil she has done. She should be locked up for the rest of her life.

Her comments lead me to believe she would have
children beheaded in the schools.
Why didn't she receive the death penalty?

Is she out on bail, awaiting sentencing? If not, what difference does it make if there is a delay in her sentence being laid down?

What I do not understand is how she says that she doesn't believe that buildings, structures etc, should be literally attacked and that innocent civilians should not be targeted, yet she thinks the 'institution' of the NYC Board of Ed could be attacked one day. If the Q was about violence, why on Earth would she even say the NYC Board Of Ed?

Well she just happens to have allied herself with an illegally aided terrorists who perpetrated all sorts of massacres of civilians, so saying she doesn't 'believe' in that kind of activity is just piffle..... leftist moronic piffle.

I too found the comments from this vermin not
understandable. How can one attack a building
believing innocent civilians will not caught up
in such an attack. The woman made no sense in
her comments, except to contradict her own thoughts.
I found her to be total vermin and still feel
she should be given a death sentence.
I still believe she meant innocent children should
be killed. I can interpret her comments in no
other way.

She's out and about making speeches and her very own website said she was to speak at a NYC High School on Nov 22nd. Only in America.

For the same reason attempted murders do not get the death penality.

She was either too stupid or too chicken to really do much other than be used as a dupe by someones who do have the nerve and ability to kill. I am not sure that we know that any message she passed did lead to a dead. So she is to be locked up for a long time before she gets a chance to actually carry a message that leads to harm.

Is it a good sign or a bad one that Judge Koeltl was once employed at the Watergate Special Prosecutors Office as Assistant Special Prosecutor

New York City Board of Education. I have a question: is this woman nuts? Or is the New York Public School System where she got her education? If that were the case I might be able to understand her feelings.
Real compassion would be a firing squad, so she could get past her "stuck on stupid" problem.
