Jesus said He would only return when we came into a "unity of the faith," ...

Really? Can you tell me where He said that?

Sorry. Implied through Paul (Ephesians 4:13) that Jesus, through the HS, gave the gifts as preparation for His return, with the word "till" indicating that He cannot return until these things are fulfilled. Also see Matt. 22:24, where Jesus (got it right this time) did say that He would remain at the "right hand" of God until His enemies were made His footstool. Well, if He is in heaven, at the "right hand," it's clear that it must be the Church making His enemies His footstool here on earth, and the only way the Church can do that is to be of one accord, in unity of the faith.

But I don't want to argue if you don't interpret these this way, and I'm sorry for misstating Eph. 4:13 as a direct comment from Jesus.

I believe Jesus' point in Ephesians 4 was a discussion "12to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."

That's the first I've heard about returning then.
