< Honestly, I don't think this is a big deal. It looks like some workplace horsing around that got loose. >
If it was FNC and the subject was not Cheney, but John Kerry, would it be a big deal?
Yes, and the Dimbulbs would already have had the producer and the technician fired AND it would all be a conspiracy by Bush, Cheney and Haliburton.
Now, was it "horsing around"? Yes it probably was, but the above comparison makes it a big durn deal.
I am not outraged, but I do think this horse needs to be beaten some more. How long did we hear about the word "rat" in the political ad not too many years ago? Weeks, it seems. Frankly, CNN has done enough intentionally over the years that whether this is an accident or not really doesn't matter. It happened on "CNN's watch." President Bush didn't lie about WMD's but CNN dutifully reports that he did.
This incident probably redounds to the administration's benefit. True outrage is misplaced-- is anyone really shocked that this would happen on CNN? Really? I say let's keep our cool, but flog this thing for a little while, and see what other lies CNN will broadcast.
