Kerry, Gore adviser to air views in book (0-8 Bob Shrum)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- After spending more than 30 years consulting for Democratic candidates, campaign operative Robert Shrum is using his pen to advance his own, liberal views.

"The book is about what I have seen the direction of progressive politics take, what happens to it and where I think it ought to go," Shrum told CNN in an interview.

The veteran political operative was coy about what else he would say in his book, and Washington insiders were aflutter Wednesday about whether it would include sharp critiques of his clients and colleagues from past campaigns -- particularly the failed presidential bids of Sen. John Kerry and former Vice President Al Gore.

Shrum did tell CNN he would not disparage Kerry or Gore but left open the door regarding criticizing his own party.

"I think we should wait for the book," Shrum said. "As long as people who in my view are attacking the Kerry campaign want to worry, I will just let them keep on worrying."...

Eh--I am a SA native and Spurs fan and less well versed in LA team standing. But didn't the LA Clippers finish ahead of the Lakers last season and haven't they started this season the same way thus far??

Rush is right again - failure is a prescription for advancement in the Democratic Party.

Who let the radical left start using the term 'progressive'?

Don't let them get away with it.

Words have meaning, and progressive vs. right-wing is the same game as pro-choice vs. anti-abortion.

Pro-life should have been the term from the outset.

And conservatives can change the debate by outing the lie of 'progressive'.

Call them liberals, or socialists, or left-wing, anything but progressive.

For balance, insist on using the term 'rational' if they use 'progressive'.

Conservatives are just such naive putzes.

One season. One bloody season.

Go to Staples Center, home of the Lakers (and the Clippers). Look at the wall, that has the banners and jerseys. Number of championship banners for the Lakers: 15. Number of championship banners for the Clippers: ZERO.

The Lakers have LOST more Finals series than the Clippers have made playoff appearances. And the Lakers have won at least one more playoff series than have the Clippers (ZERO).

Also, for a little more historical perspective: in the last 45 years, the number of playoff misses for the Lakers: 4. In that same time period, the number of playoff APPEARANCES for the Clippers: FIVE (74-75 as the Braves, 92, 93, 97 for the Clippers), with no playoff series wins.

So perhaps Shrum is worse than the Clippers.
