MSNBC's Keith Olbermann Lobbying for Bill O'Reilly's Firing? (another liberal gone wild)
NewsMax ^ | 11/17/05 | Carl Limbacher

Did MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" pull the plug on a guest because she refused to call for Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly's firing?

The day before the election, O’Reilly interviewed Angela Alioto, former president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

The topic: The city's Proposition I - a resolution declaring that "the people of San Francisco oppose the federal government's use of public schools to recruit students for service in the military."

While O'Reilly was aghast over the proposition, Alioto complained the military was going into junior high school and "recruiting 12-year-olds."

On his radio show the next day, O'Reilly suggested that the military had no obligation to protect any locality that banned military recruitment, then joked that if he were president he'd announce:

"If al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to [al Qaeda] except San Francisco."

The comment enraged San Francisco officials, with several calling for O'Reilly's firing.

A source tells NewsMax that Olbermann's staff invited Alioto on his show Tuesday night, expecting that she would echo calls for O'Reilly's head.

A producer is said to have asked, "Now, you’re calling for O’Reilly’s firing, right?”

She told him that she wasn’t - explaining that the Fox host was merely exercising his first amendment rights.

With that, Alioto's segment was canceled.

But it looks like Olbermann's staff got what they wanted after all, replacing Alioto with Chris Daly, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors,

"You know, this is dangerous," Daly told Olbermann on the air. "Fox News and Westwood One need to take some accountability for this and terminate Bill O'Reilly's employment."

It makes sense. O'Reilly makes his ratings look like garbage every night. This is the most logical thing Olbermann has done so far.

I wonder if he will soon be outed too, like Anderson Cooper?

Keith Olbermann, the biggest light weight in TV "journalism" today. Keithy Boy is just pissed O'Reilly is criticizing San Francisco for voting to ban military recruiting. Can Olbermann really agree that San Francisco which enjoys all the freedoms it does, and abuses many of the same, because of the military is justified in banning the military from recruiting those in San Fran who wish to join the military?? Why no pro-choice there? What would Keithy Boy say of a city that voted to ban Planned Parenthood from within its city limits??

For pointing out that San Franciscans have taken a borderline seditious step that frankly is a step towards seccession from the Union, O'Reilly should be fired?? I think it's Keithy Boy that should be fired for advocating rebellion against the democratically-elected government of the United States of America and its military.

"I wonder if he will soon be outed too, like Anderson Cooper?"

I doubt it would be the same thing. At least Anderson Cooper's partners are of the same species.

Fox knows best....

If they dare drop Bill O. WE will have no hesitation to drop FOX..

The reason we pay extra to get that crappy satellite provider expressvue (the only provider to offer FOX news up here) is because of Bill O.

Bill O'Reilly is the Great White Whale to this poor soul's inner Captain Ahab.

It's just a matter of time before he jumps up in the middle of a newscast and screams out "from hell's heart I stab at thee, Bill O'Reilly!"

So what if all of his viewers call for O'Relly's dismissal - what's 11 or 12 calls to Fox going to do?

What I would like is to see the big O replaced with Rush. What an attack machine the Fox would be.

O'Reilly had done nothing that would cause him to be fored.

The more controversy he causes, the more publicity he gets.

I've never watched Olberman but he sounds like an a**.

Olbermann should stick to playing second fiddle to Dan Patrick on ESPN radio sports. He is lucky to have that gig (Dibble was far better) and certainly not deserving of any legitimate news position. His illogical liberlism just oozes from every pour. Fortunately, he can only interject so much bias in sports talk before getting slapped down.
