I would bet the government doesn't GIVE mailing lists away, but sells them. Anyway, here's how to cut down the junk:

Let's not forget that Dole is married to Elizabeth, who heads up the GOP Senate Campaign Committee. What does this in turn say about her devotion to reducing the size of government?

Don't ask. Elizabeth supports any and all Republican and administration initiatives. So it would be best not to question the wisdom of the 'great' Elizabeth Dole...(of course those that didn't drink the koolaid and vote for her are the only ones that can now say we told you so)

"I am on Medicare. I did not sign up nor do I intend to sign up. I have no prescription plan from any source."

Two points:
1. If you ever do sign up you will be penalized for not having done so when eligible. They use the premiums from folk like you to build up their pool.
2. The woman complaining may have had coverage elsewhere deemed by Medicare to be not as good as this coverage. She will in effect be forced into the program. Or will do without.

That is my understanding...I could be in error.

Great in the sense of being very, very expensive.

Your comments are better suited to DU. It's not up to you to decide who lives and who dies.

That's not what I said, and you know it. I said the country would be much better off if McCain and OldBob hadn't acquired any power whatsoever over their fellow citizens.

And it would be.

No, this is great for everyone, because it will hasten the inevitable crash of our medical system. When that happens, we'll have to go back to something like a cash-pay system and re-institute market forces. I can tell you though, it won't be fun between now and the time it actually happens.

If the party insiders tell us who we must get behind in 2008, I reccommend we put our hands over our billfolds and back out of the room carefully.

I couldn't agree more. The big money men (Poppy's friends) all got behind W early on to force everyone else out...not that I can remember anyone else in the running who got me excited. I don't know what we are going to do. Is there no honest conservative that we can back???
I thought at the time that W would be at least a fiscal conservative.

I voted for Dole in '96, mainly because he was A-a decent man and B-not Clinton.

But-even then I knew he was more old-fashioned Country Club Republican than conservative.

Tom Coburn should head up the GOP Senate Campaign Committee if you ask me.

CERTAIN MEMBERS of the GOP are conservative. But not many. See my tagline.

It's actually the opposite-he IS, for the most part, socially conservative enough, it's his fiscal and immigration policies I disagree with.

When OldBob finally got off our backs and retired, he said in his speech that his proudest accomplishments were the ADA and Food Stamps.

Go away, OldBob. You were useless then, and you're useless now.

Bob never met a socialist program he did not like.

Bingo, though that's surely not how Dole meant it.

I wonder if how Dole would have answered if Hemmer had asked "Senator, can you tell us how much the program will cost over the next decade?"

Actual answer: approximately $724 billion.

There are about 10 in the Senate that are truly conservative.

The rest are pork chopping socialist lite opportunists.

Under Dole the U.S. Senate was a vast wasteland. Under Lott it didn't improve, and Frist is a disaster in the making.

Where are the people of principle on our side in the Senate? Are there any? IMON
