If you want to pretend that market forces don't exist that is your problem. People are going to come here illegally if they know they can get work, just like anywhere else.

Your tirade on slavery is bordering on braindead liberal. Either the workers will come here or the jobs will go there to Chile, Mexico etc. Are you willing to sacrifice our farmers for your policy?? They have always been the bedrock of the Conservative movement and you are willing to bankrupt them? Have you ever picked crops or worked or owned a farm?? There is no mechanization that can replicate the skills of farm workers. Now go ahead and namecall, it really makes your case.

No but the "free traders" are. They are negotiating right now for the WTO Doha round to kill off our cotton industry, because AFRICAN countries want that industry. The white house will capitulate, because they believe in global managed trade, and if the "free trader" member states say that the US must give away their sugar industry to Brazil, and their cotton industry to Africa, you "free traders" say yes.

The same "free traders" are using the Mexican migration into this country to create the North American Union, which merges the US, Canada and Mexico into one regional entity. Thats why illegal immigrants from Mexico can come here with impunity. Our government already considers them 'citizens' of the North American Union, and will not deport them, nor charge their employers for hiring them. You see, the imnmigration laws were written for the United States of America, and since it doesn't exist in the eyes of the "free traders" in our government, they just don't get enforced.

Does that mean we should not enforce the law?

Drug abusers will continue to buy drugs illegally if they know they can get drugs, just like anywhere else. Should we legalize drugs, or turn a blind eye to enforcing the law?

Teenagers will continue to buy booze illegally if they know thet can get booze, just like anywhere else. Should we lower the drinking age or ignore their actions? Can we criticize the local police chief if he isn't enforcing the law?
