Newdow needs to bone up a little bit on the nature of currency in America today. Contrary to what most people believe, "Federal Reserve Notes" aren't actually "Federal" in any real sense, in that they are actually monetized through the Federal Reserve System, which is a privately owned corporation. If the U.S. government were still producing "U.S. Notes", (last printed shortly before the death of President Kennedy - and stopped as LBJ's first executive order upon assuming the office), they might have some kind of case, but I think they are going to have a hard time with this particular lawsuit.

Coinage is monetized through the U.S. government, so they might have some kind of hat to hang their suit on, but I'm not sure that they went that far. Details to date have been sketchy.

"In God We Trust"; "Liberty"; "E Pluribus Unum". The three basic principles of American society.

Soon the constitution will be ruled as unconstitutional.

I love quotes from Washington. If every president had made an effort to live-up to the standard he set, we would have a very different nation today. One, I believe, we would be much more proud of.

That doesn't bother the Left. In fact they welcome it. Anything to dispirit and undermine their adversaries and pave the way for their return to power they will support. Count on it.

No use getting in a frenzy. This idiocy will go nowhere.

BTW, if God's been taken completely out of the schools, how did my daughter carry a Bible, pray quietly, go to Rally at the Flagpole days, do group prayers before cross country and track meets, and participate in Young Life -- all at her public school?

IMHO, our problems are much bigger than the slogan on a dollar bill.

Do you subscribe to the "Broken Windows" concept? Standing idly by while they remove "In God We Trust" from our currency is another broken window toward a society without any references God. It is another precedent that folks like Newdow and his ilk can say, "Surely we can't have a reference to God in , why--we don't even have it on our money!"

After all, aren't churches constructed on, or next to public thoroughfares? Shouldn't pedestrians be free to walk from point A to point B without having to suffer the indignity of passing a house of worship?

"Something painful ought to happen to this guy."

Yup, let's have all the "good Christians" here on Free Republic pray for that.

I'm kind of optimistic, that this kind of rediculous overreaching on the part of the atheists, will help codify some protections for acknowledgement of God in the public domain.

Where is today's Joseph McCarthy? Wonder how many leaders we would have left.

Good question. Washington pols of today, don't seem to care that our country is overrun with anti-American COMMUNISTS trying to subvert everything that represents American culture. They are too busy worrying about their utopian international agendas, and their own empowerment.

First Amendment Church of True Science

I searched this ... Newdow is the founder of the 'church' and is apparently the only member. There is no picture of the church alter, but I imagine it is covered with beakers, Bunsen burners, bottles of hydrochloric acid, and vials of powdered ferrous oxide. There are probably a few dollars in the collection plate with 'In God We Trust' crossed out and 'We Don't Trust In Sh*t' written in. The hymn book racks on the back of the pews contain microscopes with an assortment of glass slides of various bacteria. Any other suggestions?

"It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favors."

Wonderful quote - I think I'll send Nedow a post-card...

Perhaps we can get him "set-up" with the divorced Cindy Sheehan.

Isn't there something we could cobble together to sue Newdow with? Like harassment or something?
