FREE REPUBLIC MASTER THREAD: Good News from Iraq - stories, letters from soldiers, pictures
11-14-05 | Doug from Upland

FReepers, I am sure you have seen a change in the Bush Administration's attitude of response to the salacious and morale-harming verbal attacks of the DemocRATS. It is long, long overdue. Perhaps we can help.

The stories in the mainstream media are far too few about the good work and progress that has been done in Iraq. Please use this thread for the stories, letters from troops (leave out their names unless you have permission), and photos of the miraculous work our fighting forces have done. This thread can be the central clearing house of the good news.

Please also add links to the websites that tell these stories. We need to be hammering away on talk radio and with letters to the editor. Thanks for your contributions to create a positive historical record - the real record of what this greatest of all nations has done for freedom.

Actor Gary Sinise's site - Operation Iraqi Children dot org

Email from an Iraqi friend of Gary's after the arrival of the first Operation Iraqi Children shipment:

Happy birthday, my friend. I'm very proud to consider you as my friend. Thank you for your offer to help me. That is very kind of you and I appreciate that because when a friend be in trouble he will ask his best friend to help him. I want to tell you that all the students today were very happy and you can see the smile on their faces I can't find the words to explain to you the situation, some of the girls and the boys were dancing because they were very happy and some of them singing, it is like a celebration or party and the soldiers were so happy and they enjoyed the time with the kids. The families were very grateful for that when they heard that U.S forces come to deliver some supplies they came quickly to see that. They show to us how much they are happy, one of the parents there told me that is very great to see the soldiers give the kids the toys and the stationary and they will not forget this day and the kids will remember the soldiers who help Iraqi children. Next time I will make some interview with some people asking them about their feelings and their impressions. Happy birthday Gary again, God bless you.

Doug, mind if I use this to also plug hhkRepublican_2's Operation Spread The Truth (OSTT)

I guess if you do it's too late. We are pushing to counter lies by democrats on the local front, which dovetails I think into your push here to get the good news about Iraq out.

If you start a ping list for this operation, please include me. Thanks.

Hey Doug, I heard something today that upset me very much.

A lady in my Sunday School class has a nephew in Iraq. He told her that anti-war types are getting the soldiers' addresses and writing them hate mail.

His unit is really discouraged by the quantity of hate mail they have been getting from American liberals hatemongers, hoping that they are killed and that their wives and girlfriends are cheating on them (shade of Axis Sally and Lord Haw Haw!)

She has promised to Email me her nephew's APO address. Maybe we can organize something for this unit that has been on the receiving end of some pretty nasty stuff.

Anybody who would send hate mail to a soldier in a war zone is lower than whale $#!+ at the bottom of the Marianas Trench.

This link is from a guy in Lubbock, TX who owns a lot of the radio stations there. A guy in Iraq, who is from Amarillo, Tx made this tape of himself with his buddies
singing "Show me the way to Amarillo" and sent it to him.

If you can get ANY of this e-mail forwarded to you and post it, we can use it in letters and columns. It would be a powerful way to highlight to the nation the attitudes of SOME of the anti-war crowd.

I'm waiting for her Email. I'll keep you posted as I get information.

I was just so shocked and angered by this that I am still spitting nails and I heard about it yesterday in Sunday School!
