He was fortunate enough to surf on the dot.com wave.

And most voters just do not grasp that concept. It makes me insane the way people think the President controls the economy. As if the President sits in the Oval Office and says, hey, let's do this today! And presto, the economy responds within a day or two. I think in many cases, the President in office at any given time is reaping the results of a previous administration's economic policies. It also bothers me that a Dow over 10K seems adequate justification for abuse of office, personal malfeasance, disrespect and downright hostility toward the military, and a liberal Supreme Court (to name a few items).

Many people think the President has much more power than actually does. As far as they're concerned the governor of their state has nothing to do with the state's economy.
