I'll bet there aren't ten people on FR who have actually read Santorum's book.

That says a lot, doesn't it?

No one can keep up with everything. I did not even know he wrote that book. Thanks for bringing that here.

Come to think of it, there is a lot of water around here. Numerous boaters drown in it every summer--most of them drunk.

I didn't really read your post carefully--I thought you were talking about seagoing craft...yachts, etc.

We do have a lot of canoes on the cricks and pontoon boats on the Susquehanna.

A friend of mine operates a mini-sized model of the African Queen on our stretch of the river.

But enough boaters to defeat Santorum in a general election?

Never.

Pencil-neck media-horrible Toomey wouldn't have won even if Santorum had gone against the president and endorsed him and personally paid for 1000 billboards all across the state.

Probably true

PA is almost the same as NJ these days especially with the idiots in Phila and the ones who flee there for the burbs and still vote democrat

Stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me

Uh-oh, you had better get your flak jacket on. You can't criticize Saint Patrick Toomey around here. These people act like Toomey is Jesus Christ and Santorum was Pontius Pilate ordering his crucifixion.

And I wish conservatives would spend half the energy taking on Chuck Schumer and Ted Kennedy as they do Arlen Specter. Which of those voted to confirm John Roberts? Which will vote to confirm Samuel Alito? Does anything else really matter?

Anybody really believe he did this for a $2000 donation?

Yep. He doesn't even have the saving grace of being a high-priced whore.

he really thinks it is wrong for the federal government to provide something in competition with the private sector

If that's the problem, the legitimate solution is to sell off the agency to a private owner. To deny taxpayers access to the data, while requiring them to continue paying for its collection, and then pay again to get it from one of his bagmen, is corrupt.

Really, when the names involved were "Bill Clinton", "Grande Escalante", and "James Riady" rather than "Rick Santorum", "National Weather Service", and "AccuWeather", I'm sure you understood this concept perfectly well.

Rick has a problem with foot in mouth disease sometimes. And he is in hostile territory.

I know some who didn't like his pro-tax-referendum stance.

That worsened his already bad position in NoVA. The voters here realize that enacting a local tax for roads will simply result in the Richmond gang siphoning off even more of our general-fund taxes to pave every cow path meandering along the North Carolina border. That's why they rejected the idea in the referendum a few years back.

He dares not come down too solidly on the side of pro-life or he will lose Phialdelphia.

They will ignore the pro-life issue because the libs and the gays want Rick out of office in the worse way ... they haven't gotten over his comment about that Texas law and and about marriage

Plus there is a rumor that Casey made a deal with Schummer to campaign as a pro-lifer .. but if election to vote as a pro-choicer

And while we're at it, let's get rid of police patrols. Wackenhut provides perfectly good service to their commercial customers now, and I'm sure they'd be real happy if everyone else had to hire them to cruise our streets.

The Santorum bill is equivalent to a system where the police are pulled from the streets and contracted out to Wackenhut, and you pay both your existing taxes to support the police department and the service fee to have Wackenhut protect you.

Again, this is not a free market reform -- it's a "crony capitalism" scam of the sort that impeded and even derailed privatization efforts in some of the former Soviet Bloc nations.

"Maybe he should have Bush campaign for him"

I'm sure you've said it in jest...but I honestly believe that is one of Bush's strengths. Give him a bull horn and a message. He'll be back.

Many think Bush has lost his way, but I think it's been some major stuff going on behind the scenes protecting this country and our interests worldwide.

I just think that to be impossible at this point. Casey is too popular

I agree that it's gonna be tough for Rick to pull this out

But I disagree about Casey .. the man is a spineless idiot and nothing like his father

Then Santorum has to force Casey to commit himself explicitly as pro-life. Go after him until he committs himself. This needs to be done early on.

How right you are! They posted this one at least three times on FR today.

Guess they didn't like the comments on the first two.

This is no shock. Santorum has NO CHANCE of winning that race. NONE.

The most tiresome part of being a Republican is to be in company of so many cowards and pantywaists. It's a year before the big game and way too many of us are already willing to throw in the towel. Sen. Santorum has six months to turn this around or the primary voters will free up his future. Whining and moaning now about the hopelessness of his chances will only server to help the democrat nominee build up his power base and war-chest. Regretfully, we could all stand to learn something about loyalty and team play from our opposition.

We've been here before. Pschological warfare is the toughest and can beat you down, unfortunately, without being aware of what's really going on.

Stay strong!

Santorum gets whatever he deserves for betraying Pat Toomey. Notice how he, Bush and Rove have all been cursed politically for that act of betrayal of conservatism. When you sell out your principles, you stand for nothing, and the people won't be fooled.
