Yeah, toejam--like PA voters care about you and your boating buddies. We are mostly a landlocked state.

I can hardly believe that you actually do live in Pennsylvania, with such a stupid comment. In addition to having shoreline on Lake Erie, there are just a few rivers and lakes, including some good reserviors, for boaters in Pennsylvania. You sound like the Democrats who put the luxury tax on yachts--since only millionaire Republicans have yachts--but forgot that every business related to boating would be negatively affected if those Republicans stopped buying yachts.

This onslaught against Santorum is a campaign by the pro-aborts in PA, with whom I have dealt for three decades. We cannot let them win.

And they're getting a hearty does of support from the Gaystapo this time around, too. We need to turn the Santorum race into a referendum on these issues. In PA, it's a sure ticket to victory. Casey needs to be backed into a corner on these issues and forced to take a stand. The eastern PA Blacks WILL NOT support a candidate who's an outspoken supporter of homo-marriage.

I'm still waiting for concrete evidence that either of these guys are pro-life.

Specter will support Santorum. He may be a RINO but he will support a fellow Pubbie. I've lived in PA for 28 years and I have no doubt of this.

IMHO Santorum needs to neutralize Casey's supposed "pro-life" stand. Will Casey vote to confirm pro-life judges? Santorum can hit him hard with that. He can also hit him hard on tax issues. Casey Sr. spent like a drunken sailor, with the sole exception of Philly education spending (the mayor just about had a stroke when Casey told him to pound sand when they wanted more money). Somehow Santorum needs to pound on what he's done for the state and he's going to need Specter hammering that home as well, perhaps even more so. People care about bringing home the bacon, and our two GOP senators had better drive home Santorum's accomplishments in that vein.

Casey isn't all that good a guy in my opinion. I watched the debate between him and Rendell, and Casey struck me as a first-class jerk (you have to give Rendell one thing -- he may be a lib, but, politics aside, he does come off as a nice person). Santorum can try to go negative, but with Casey's lack of background I don't know if that will work. The nuclear option would be to point out that for every Bob Casey there's a bunch of idiot Mark Singel's, but that would likely backfire. IMHO Santorum needs to put on the charm big-time and trumpet his accomplishments for PA ad infinitum.

Yeah, that theory worked marvelously for the 1992 Presidential election. What was the name of the Republican that regained the WH in 1996? And thank goodness that Clinton didn't do any damage while he was in office. Do the Chinese now have nuke missiles aimed at us, when their pace of scientific advancement in 1992 suggested it would be at least 2 decades before they could perfect their missile targeting technology? And of course Able Danger wasn't shut down nor the Gorelick wall put up, thus allowing us to prevent 9/11.

Need I go on?

oh yea, everyone got one, except me, since I did not evacuate. It was not bad here but I am right on the water and it blew like hell most of the night. Huricane force for several hours, go one or two blocks inland and wind was not so bad, but on galveston bay it was howling.

Yeah, we also have TV stations, newspapers and the internet, all of which provide weather for free. I hardly think pleasurecrafters going fishing or going to the Point to see the fireworks really need specialized weather forcasts provided by the gov't.

And again, if there is a major problem, an emergency warning, this information is quite obviously made public.

IMHO Santorum needs to neutralize Casey's supposed "pro-life" stand.

If Santorum makes the homo-marriage issue front and center in PA, he'll clean Casey's clock. Casey can't appear to be too much in favor or he'll alienate the Blacks, hispanics, and blue-collar union guys in his base. However, if he comes out against, the homos will be at his throat.

Santorum will have to wage a robust campaign with this issue and abortion front and center to have a shot.

OK, I've HAD IT. The big reason for such big spending is we were ATTACKED. We had to spend money on homeland security. Sure, we pissed a lot of it away, but you think ANY politician was going to stand up for election on a platform of cutting homeland security spending?

Now that the country is "past that", and is focused on the budget problems (and the democrats are on record on the subject), the republicans ARE pushing to cut spending. We need to support that, not give up on them.

Sure, we want them to cut more, but they cut a little now, maybe they cut a little more later, maybe they win an election and see that cutting is popular, and cut some more.

Ever hear of Lake Erie, how about the Delaware River, not to mention PA boat owners who keep their boats several hours away in other states. Unfortunately, for Santorum, his crazy bill got a lot of press throughout the country and the attention of a somewhat cliqueish group.

Uh, no. Discretionary spending is out of control. Not counting war and homeland seurity spending. Spending on $500 million bridges to nowhere.
