Don't mentkon huricanes to me, the freakin GOP government gave every swicking **** $2,000.00 where I live except me. I stayed here kept my business open when all other closed, I provided food, water (water was turned off), ice, beer and important info to the community. People that took a government bus to a government shelter get handed a 2k check? All that money that the GOP is throwing around comes out of our pockets. What the hell is wrong with the GOP?

mean while the roof gets blown off my business so I call up FEMA to see whats up. They tell me to go fly a kite, I have a job so I am rich, no help from FEMA. Well I have news I used to be "rich" but no longer because the freakin government is breaking me with TAXES, TAXES and more TAXES. I am on the verge to saying the hell with it, closing the busness, selling the house and living in a tent on public property some place.

I'll bet there aren't ten people on FR who have actually read Santorum's book. If they had, they would never say the things they are saying about him.

mostly his own stupid statements (such as during hurricane season trying to restrict public access to Nat'l Weather Service data.)

That was a political payoff to AccuWeather in exchange for their bribes campaign contributions. It's a textbook example of the corrupt "crony capitalism" that has screwed up the post-Communist transitions of some of the old Soviet Empire states (most notably Russia itself).

It's certainly questionable. But it is not about removng the NWS's vital function of providing emergency warnings. Don't think that.

It's about not having the gov't do what private business can do. Some might think it conservative to move un-necessary gov't functions to the private sector.

Bull, lies are lies and arguments that illustrate that point are never futile.

For instance, I doubt 10% of the American people know we seized 1.77 metric tonnes of enriched uranium from Iraq after the war. Why is that so? Sounds like a good photo op speech doesn't it?

Ceding the field is not a winning strategy, especially when your opponents are provable liars.

Basically, his book is a lame attempt to excuse conservatives' failure to do their job (getting the government off our backs) by attempting to redefine conservatism as not actually requiring them to do that at all.

I am reminded of Mary Mapes' self-justifying claim that it was not her responsibility to verify that the documents she used were legit before air time.

What do the Republicans ever have going for them? Just three things (1) that the Democrats are in power and screwing up (not applicable here), (2) that they are pro-life,

Agreed on at least some of that -- the RINOs don't understand how much Republican success depends on monopolizing the pro-life, pro-marriage vote. So many people vote on those issues because they're people of faith, regardless of their views on fiscal or foreign policy issues -- as soon as the Democrats run a social conservative (or someone claiming to be -- even Tim Kaine ran as a social conservative in VA!!!) that takes away a big chunk of the GOP base.

Now is not apparently the time, but I expect it to be the time soon. Don't want to peak too soon. I know, it's scary, and I don't have much faith, but so far Bush has managed to peak for the party right before each election.

I have to hope there is a plan, and it will work. I have to hope that the base comes around. I have to hope that we can convince fellow conservatives that as bad as the senate is, it would be worse going through the next two years with the democrats back in power (like they were the first 2 years). Maybe Bush would bring Harriet Miers back, because she's all he could get through a democrat senate.

Remember, with "Majority Leader Reid", there is no filibuster -- the committee simply votes down every conservative on a party-line vote.

Worse, the economy is great, the country is in GREAT SHAPE. People are depressed because the media TELLS them to be, the democrats tell them to be.

If the dems take over, expect that within 2 months the story in the media will be about Morning In America, and since it IS great, it will be an easy sell. The media will give the Democrats in the Senate all the credit, and it will put a democrat in the white house in 2008. And we'll have to wait for the inevitable downturn before we can win back anything.

I just went through this here in Virginia. I'm tired of it. Do you SEE what the media does with your "protest votes"? Is ANYBODY saying that the problem in Virginia was that the candidates weren't conservative, or didn't reach out to their conservative base, or that Bush didn't enact a conservative agenda?

NO, they are saying the candidates were TOO conservative, that the "arch-conservative" Bush pulled down the candidate, that he turned off the moderates that are 'essential'. Since a conservative delegate lost because the conservatives stayed home, the media says that GOP needs to run more "moderate, centrist" candidates to stay in power.

Well, gee, THANKS A LOT CONSERVATIVES. We are making REAL progress, but because it isn't fast enough for some of you "purist" conservatives, you are ready to give up before the game is over. Quitters, Whiners, complainers.

Sometimes you sicken me.

Santorum is about as conservative as you could WANT in PA. And the conservatives will stay home to PUNISH HIM for not supporting another CONSERVATIVE in a primary against Specter. Yea, make the WHOLE COUNTRY pay because of your hissy-fit.

Find your perfect, 100% pure conservative, and get him or her elected, and then come back and talk. But they probably would say SOMETHING wrong and you'd drop them like a rock.

OK, enough for me. Sorry if that was too harsh, but I'm not going to go back and edit it.

Santorum has put himself squarely in the sights of just about every person in the country that raises some sort of domestic animal, especially those that raise dogs and cats. He's the sponsor of the infamous "PAWS" bill:

http://www.simply-simian.com/paws.htm

http://saova.org/1139.html

http://www.pet-law.com/

He has literally poked a number of sleeping giants squarely in the eye, on behalf of animal rights supporters like PETA, the Humane Society of the United States, and the Doris Day Animal League.

I hope he goes down in the flames he so richly deserves.

Too many Pubbies are forgetting that old adage: Dance with the one who brung ya.

They get to Washington and they turn into big spenders and irgnore their base -- the ones who brung them there.

Yesterday was a harbinger of 06, if the Pubbies continue to remain clueless and ignore the conservative base.

Well gee I guess to you it would be better to put a Hustler magazine centerfold up on the wall.

Santorum was a man in the middle, but it is unreasonable for you to expect Tooney supporters to admire a waffler. Unlike Bush he has has been a true conservative and what has he gotten in return? It is not that Bush would ever support him for the leadership.

If I was in a position of political power and trying to educate the Senate and the public about the personhood of the 4000 Americans slaughtered every day, you're damn right I would.

Yawn, the GOP actually gains a seat in the VA big 3(Lt. Gov. and Atty. Gen) and the democrat and soros funded propositions go down in flames in the ultimate swing state, Ohio, and it is the end of the world.

Don't you get tired of spewing your canned repsonses over and over.

It is stupidity on par with letting your house burn down and refusing to use the fire extingisher or call the fire dept. because you told your kid not to play with matches, so by golly ya gotta teach them a lesson.

Bump for an apt description of the sphinx caucus.

That's why, from now on, I'm going to post links to it on every single "Rick's going down" thread.

If nothing else, he deserves to get some book sales out of the endless bumps by idiotic, semi-suicidal so-called Republicans on FR.
