. . . more than 1,100 shows researchers studied . . . I quit watching television about 5 years ago. Even Fox, cause ya can't quit unless you quit. Partially because of the prevalence even then of the subject of this article, but also because the "news" (hahaha) is so biased. Most everything else was just so inane. I can't imagine a job which would requireme to watch.

Not true, I never have sex on the television. I am afraid of breaking it. Plus you try to fit on a 52 inch wide screen on a pedestal.

Prime time comedy is very flippant about sex. If people carried on the same conversations that they hear on TV at work they would find themselves out on the pavement in no time. I know teen agers are getting an ear full.

Partially because of the prevalence even then of the subject of this article, but also because the "news" (hahaha) is so biased. Most everything else was just so inane. I can't imagine a job which would requireme to watch. Our house started Nov 02 of this year when we had them yank out the cable. I found I almost never watched it -- for the reasons you listed above + those History Channel, A&E, etc. "documentaries" were getting to be a joke + how many home/personal make-overs do they think a person wants to watch? -- and my husband pretty much just used TV for backround noise. (That's some expensive backround noise!) Between NetFlik and the internet we don't miss cable at all.

And, since I've taken the TV out of my living space and put it into the garage, only to be brought in on Friday nights for the kids to watch a video, this means....... I don't give a rip.
I, like many people in the U.S., have chosen to begin unilateral w/drawal from the popular culture. Church Schools, No TV, limited access for the kids to magazines.

Twice as Much Sex on TV This is probably due to the number of big screen TVs sold. You can really hurt yourself trying to have sex on a smaller set.

There were nearly 3,800 scenes with sexual content spotted in more than 1,100 shows researchers studied, up from about 1,900 such scenes in 1998,OK, that takes care of the news. How about regular programing?
