And, here's what MD4Bush had to say about Mikulski:

I lot of the undecided people I have talked to say that Phonyheit-911 just made them want to vote for Bush, because the movie was so shameless and so full of lies. Thanks Mike Moore--GOP hero! By the way nice comment on Mikulski, she is a lezbo, funny how that hasn't been in the news either.

"If there is something happening within our party, then let's take responsible action and let's handle it," Mitchell said.
When the Washington Post first printed their story on Joe Steffen, one in which they concealed key facts, Maryland Democrats were all rejoicing. As truth is revealed over time, they change their tune. These people have little more credibility than a crack dealer trying to explain dope found by cops in his car.

Now that the Maryland Democrat Party has publicly condemned the writings of MD4Bush, should FreeRepublic not take them at their word? Follow me, here.
If their condemnation is true, then surely they would also condemn one of their own, namely their Communications Director O'Doherty, who used their own computers to send these nasty messages. Is it time for Jim Robinson to send the message routing information on all the MD4Bush's scurrilous messages to the head of the Democrat Party, with a cover note along the following lines:
"Here is the routing information on the messages of MD4Bush, which show that they were sent from your computers at a time when O'Doherty was employed by you as a spokesman. With this information in hand, it should be easy for you to establish who had access to those computers and therefore who on your staff sent these messages."
"We will wait for four days while you establish this fact, and announce that the writer of these messages will never again be employed by the Democrat Party or by any Democrat candidate in Maryland. If you do not act in that time, we will conclude that your condemnation of these messages was a ploy, rather than an honest statement, and will release this information to the press."
Just a thought of how to proceed on this hot topic.

So did everyone else --- except the WaPo reporters who tried to sell the story that it was an Ehrlich administration dirty trick.

Jayne Miller's timeline piece is very interesting. WBAL-TV has the mayor on tape in early November bringing up rumors about him at a press conference about the firing of the Baltimore police commissioner. This was after Steffen and NCPAC exchanged FReepmails. The mayor denies knowing about MD4Bush at the time.
WBAL also says sources say "at least one top aide to O'Malley was aware of the online postings in November". The City Hall insider denies that. And several weeks before the story broke, one "O'Malley associate outside City Hall" knew enough about the rumor to reach out to the Washington Post to help them with their story - i.e. is the "intermediary" described by the Washington Post.
WBAL also confirmed that the rumors about O'Malleys personal life were so frequently discussed on the Baltimore Sun's online message boards that Sun stopped allowing those rumors to be posted in June 2004.
Oh, and a source characterized the IP address trail left by MD4Bush as "sloppy".
Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip.

Party officials changed their mind and issued a strong, purposeful statement of condemnation. "It is despicable in my opinion," said Keiffer Mitchell, co-chairman of the state Democratic party. "It is gutter politics. It should not take place." Mitchell is condemning the character assassination tactics used by the mysterious poster MD4BUSH to get the attention of Ehrlich aid Joe Steffen, then engage Steffen in rumor mongering about O'Malley's personal life on the Internet. Mitchell is encouraging his party to launch an investigation. "It would be a step in the right direction, to clear the air, to put this to rest," Mitchell said.

You're unnecessarily letting the Baltimore Sun off the hook. Their slanted reporting made the Washington Post look objective. Heck, their reporting is so biased that they might even make the New York Times look objective.
To: conservative in nyc
The Sun continued with articles spinning the Steffen angle as recently as about a week ago.

Keiffer Mitchell is a Baltimore City Councilman. The left-wing
Baltimore City Paper called him the Best Politician of 2005.
To: maggief
Thanks. That's pretty close (if not identical) to what Jayne Miller reported on TV.

Which leads inevitably to the question: Did O'Malley or anyone on his staff ever log on to FR to check up on the status of MD4BUSH's deceptive dirty tricks set up operation?
To: HowlinglyMind-BendingAbsurdity
Well, they say curiosity killed the cat.
I'm wondering whether anyone other than the WaPo was stupid enough to log on as MD4Bush AFTER the story broke.
To: conservative in nyc
Probably. Although O'Malley, who is not from Baltimore but from Washington, has a ridiculously high self-estimation, he does seem to be a rather cognitively-challenged bonehead.

Jim- I don't know how you do it. If I knew who it was, I would be blabbing it, or at least shouting it into a hole.;)
Glad you are the one in charge!

Josh White has me confused. Is MD4BUSH a "hero" for smearing Mikulski with the "lezbo" tag, or is MD4BUSH a "hero" for smearing O'Malley as a cheater and getting some guy to say "I heard that too".
This thing is a set-up that backfired.
