Thanks for adding to the info regarding the Hi-points. I will have to say they don't instill much confidence just from looking at them.
Of course a single incident doesn't mean a whole lot. This mornig my garbage man hauled of my trash which included a snap-on socket which cracked. I left it in my pickup for a couple of years thinking I would run across the truck but finally just tossed it.
There is a reason that they offer a lifetime warranty on their products. They need to. What they sell will break in much shorter order than a quality firearm will. Don't trust your life to a Hi-Point. Buy an SKS they cost the same and are light years ahead in the quality department.
