The problem with a lever action rifle in a combat scenario is the time to reload. With an AR all you have to do is change magazines. On the other hand, if you don't have extra magazines, a 30-30 is faster to reload then an AR-15.

Anyone who has an AR-15 and no extra magazines is pretty stupid.
