"In Evreux in Normandy, a mall was set on fire, burning down more than 50 vehicles while a post office and two schools were also set alight...

.....Normandy......Hmmmm....IIRC, isn't that the place where the US has some VERY sacred real estate???...

IMHO, the French can let the cars and buildings burn, but they'd better AT LEAST put some kind of SUBSTANTIAL defense around that area, and I can only imagine what it would be like to be a "mudlum" OR FRENCH if ANYTHING EVEN CLOSE TO BEING DESTRUCTIVE happens there....

Too late, at least on the region, and I'm ahead of you on the contingency planning.

Riots spread beyond French capital (Marseilles, Dijon and Normandy)

Send in Jimmy Carter. We might all get lucky. He could get trapped on a burning bus.

I believe the cemetery at Normandy is sovereign US territory. And I might be mistaken but I think we and the Brits have US Marines/Royal Army guarding their perspective sites to protect them from vandals for about 3 years now.

i expect the Hollywood left to start sobbing for peace any moment now

Yeah, where are all of those Hollywood idiots that were going to move to France if "W" won the election.

Can't Alec Baldwin DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS?!

Paging Barbra Streisand, Ed Asner, et al. Can't you guys cowboy up and save France?

Oh wait, you guys are just as hypocritical as PETA; PETA, always ready to stand up for animals....where was PETA when the animals were drowning during the hurricanes? Where was PETA when the animals were lost and starving after the storms? PETA, why weren't you saving those animals' furs?!

We are trying to be firm and avoid any provocation.

Translation,,,,, We have ordered surrender flags, but they have not arrived.

In judging the French, we must not be too harsh. They do not operate on Anglo-Saxon time, which means that doing something 10 days after rioting has started is acting quickly as far as the French are concerned. At least that is what the waiter told me the last time I went to a French restaurant.

There's "Old Europe" for you. Maybe they should ask Poland for help. France apparently cannot take care of this situation alone when we are on day 10. Of course, if Poland, or any other country came in to help, all of the negatives would be blamed on those who came to assist; the government would accept no blame at all.

Those cemetaries are American soil. They do that and I would expect some real action..at least one would think so.

the French are typical Euro-Weenies (the mildest I dare say) and politically correct to their own detriment.

I personally wont be surprised if this goes on for over 14 days and MAYBE the French Political Leader will grow a pair of BALLS and stop the rampaging of these violent muslims.

"We are trying to be firm and avoid any provocation,"

Leave it to the French to worry about provoking anyone while they are in the middle of getting their A$$es kicked!

this reminds me of what the french guy says in monty python and the holy grail "I fart in your general direction"..seems like that's the basic response to this latest uprising..

Hey Jacques, call the UN, don't call us.

I gotta agree.
Certainly, the events of the last few years have proven the French to be unworthy of the spilling of any more American blood.

One thing that concerns me is how easily Islamofacists could conceivably roll a society of sheep. In many part of this country, that's us. Just how tough can Katie Couric and Oprah watchers be?

Not many years ago, IIRC, France had near state of the art atomic/thermonuclear technology. Hmmm, Who would come into possession of this if France falls? Hmmm.

Amazingly, the person making the above statement (Sarkozy) is the French "law and order" guy. The rest of them think he's too tough!

That is not comforting....

I had hoped, really hoped, that once the rioting spread from the ethnic ghettos into the ethnic French part of Paris, French authorities would start cracking heads. I know French history but I couldn't imagine their pussification was so entrenched. It appears I have been sadly mistaken.

Your mistake is understandable. Who'd have thunk that a country that was razed by the Nazis and one that still has plenty of people from that generation still alive, and many in government, would sit still for this. What short memories people have. They'd always rather spend decades at enormous costs digging themselves out from under some dung heap than simply undertake some preventative maintenance.

They do not operate on Anglo-Saxon time

Having recently spent time in that alternate reality known as France, I can say this is absolutely true!

The French need to put Jeanny Depp in charge of the French citizen militas.

Yeah, or when at the wedding when the castle owner (Michael Palin) is trying to keep things civil:

"Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who! This is supposed to be a happy occasion."

Pretty soon the French will be the Black Knight and the Eurabians will be King Arthur.

I'm gonna LMAO in black comedy fashion if France falls to Islam because of this.
